We have visited Antigua twice. Our first trip of two weeks was spent at Pineapple Beach resort at Long Bay. It is in a beautiful location. The resort is great with lots of things going on. The beach is stunning. We had a few minor complaints, but all went well. However, when we returned this October to Antigua, we stayed at Halcyon Cove by Rex Resorts, and it was a complete sham. The place should be completely refurbished before they book in any more guests. It classes itself as a three star resort which is utterly laughable. It deserves no more that a one star ,in my opinion. Rooms were smelly, staff, in particular, bar staff were rude. Reception staff treated guests as an inconvenience. The food was dire. We were all inclusive, but all inclusive was more like full board. You only got food at mealtimes. No snacks were available in between. Ice cream was a chargeable extra!!!! They were constantly running out of soft drinks, and even ran out of whisky! Staff were lazy, and only replaced beer, and soft drinks when they felt like it. The beach was full of cigarette ends buried in the sand, hardly a tropical paradise. We could have been in any Mediterranean resort, never before have we ever seen so many holidaymakers with tattoos and football shirts (Worn for dinner!-classy!) I would seriously try and dissuade anyone from booking a holiday here. I wish I had taken heed of the numerous negative reviews, before we left. But as they say, you live and learn.
