The Adelaide YHA - Ruth Hine. Date of travel: Mar 2006
I stayed at the Adelaide YHA. First the positive bits, it is centrally located, the place is clean and there are individual lockers for you to store your stuff. On the negative side the staff are pretty disinterested in anything except taking your money. Although it is a YHA (and certainly the best of those I stayed in in Australia) it is not up to the standard of YHA's I have stayed in in Europe, England and Scotland - it seems to be more of a backpackers than a YHA. They have a travel desk which is meant to be able to assist you with your travel arrangements, however they were unable to make suggestions providing it seemed a pamphlet storage and booking facility. It is not in a particularly good area and is very very noisy at night. Overall the Adelaide YHA is not good value for money but is suitable is you are wanting just an overnight stop on your way through to somewhere else as it is relatively close to major transport links.
