Riviera Beach - Disappointed Couple. Date of travel: May 2007
My partner and I arrived for two weeks in May '07 and as a couple weren't impressed with the facilities available within the hotel... the Riviera Beach hotel is at the top end of the resort so a 15-20 minute walk into the very beginning of the resort centre should be expected. As tourists we feel completely lost, not many people in the hotel or the resort could speak much English, although most were firendly and keen to try. The hotel was basic (a bit gloomy with the dark wood and it also looked outdated). The average age of guests here would be around 65yrs (+) so not ideal if you're a young couple or family! It is however right on the beach and all rooms have a sea view which is lovely. We had a few days of cloudy/overcast days, but when the sun shone it was nice. The food in the hotel is ok, not very varied and always luke warm (at its best!!!). Try the pancakes in the morning - yum! We would recommend The Rocks and La Bamba for a beach side cafe/restaurant. Unless you want to go shopping everyday, around the similar shops and clubbing/bars in the evening then there's no a lot here for you to do. The hotel entertainment is awful!! The shops I must add do sell very cheap clothes and perfumes etc, but they are all fakes, even the shop owners will tell you! Sorry if when you've read this you have to re-think your holiday choice, but we wouldn't recommend the hotel or the resort, and wont be returning here!
