My fan room at Top Banana Backpackers was connected to the 'party' balcony and it was very loud, as there was a large opening above my door to the balcony common area. My bed was covered with dirt grit and ants crawled all over me. I was barely able to sleep. Beware the tuktuk driver named Lucky - he quoted me $2 for a roundtrip to the Thai Embassy, because we made an extra stop, he demanded $15 at the end of the ride. For crying out loud, it's supposedly only 10 for a half day out to the Killing Fields. Beware, everyone in Phnom Penh wants your cash. The waitresses at Herb Cafe try to intimidate you into 50% tips. Not a city to be in if you are on a budget and also enjoy kind, honest people.

We stayed at Top Banana for 2 nights in March. I'm still haunted by the terrible experience of staying in that hell place. We had arranged to live in a room where is filled up disgusting toilet smell, lack of ventilation, price of room is cheap (US$8) for independent washroom though. We were also overcharged by hiring tuk-tuk driver (he is one of the staff in top banana) for US$20/2 person/8 hours. Beware of everybody are interested in your money!

This st is just perfect, Top Banana guesthouse for a real travelers. Atmosphere, good chill out, cheap drinks and food, the owner takes the guest out to party sometimes.
Just downstairs, the Setsara restaurant, with delicious Thai food, comfortable sitting and good tunes, still good prices.
Then next door, the Equinox, a new bar in Phnom Penh, cool atmosphere, cocktails, paintings, photos, lots of cool stuff.
