Hotels in Zagreb are still not as plentiful as some of the capital cities in western Europe. They often have that sterile and bland flavor -- We like the Hotel Central, mainly due to its great location (close to center and near public transportation). It is simple, bland but still affordable by western standards. The rooms were clean, neat and furnished with tasteful modern furniture. Don't expect "charm" -- you'd pay extra for that! Also, try to find a room with air conditioning if you are traveling in June or July (unless you don't mind sweating in your sleep).
