Club Tropical was a good vacation, the best beaches ever, and lots to do if you want. A lot of tours are offered, some fairly long in the heat. I would recommend a tour every 2 or 3 days, not consecutively. A traveller tip would be to take as much Canadian cash as you are comfortable with, there are hefty service charges for using American money or for using your credit cards (when I say hefty I mean 10% of whatever you draw out). If you are in Havana there are bank machines and my grandfather used one without too much of a service charge. Even at the all-inclusives you do need some pocket money, especially for tipping. The people are poor and really go the extra mile for you if you tip them a little. We enjoyed the two tours we did - one to Havana and one to the Bellamar Caves - the tour buses are air-conditioned and the guides fluent in several languages. Our accommodation was what we expected for a 3 star place - clean and a great location on the Varadero beach. The towel service lacked - laundry service must be expensive for the resort. I overheard other people complaining about towel service at their 5 star resort as well. The food at our place was repetitive, but the ice cream was nice and we did go out for Chinese food once which was delicious. I would recommend this vacation, especially for beach lovers!
