We have stayed at the Anthea Apartments for the past seven years and been really satisfied, up until this year that is. For this year we booked for October during our May break there. We stipulated a specific room considering that my wife is now semi invalid and has great difficulty climbing stairs. I called the week before we were due to arrive and was assured that all was ok for the room we asked for. On arriving guess what, we were given a room right at the back of the hotel up a flight of stairs. I pointed out that we had booked a specific room and had the reciept to prove it. The people on the desk just did not want to know. Because it was in the early hours we decided to take the room and sort it out in the morning. Well the room did have clean sheets on the bed but that was about it. There were two squashed cockroaches on the floor and an army of ants feeding on them. Reception were no more helpful in the morning with a take it or leave it attitude. For the rest of the holiday we only had one change of bed sheets and one change of towels and the normally efficient cleaning regime of previous years had all but disappeared. I have never seen a hotel degenerate so far in six months. So be warned, if you are offered the Anthea Apartments in Ayia Napa run a mile.

Hotels I have found are always good. If you are paying for a cheap basic apartment, expect basic, but they are still clean and well located, mostly including pool area. I am staying at the Anthea Apartments which I have not stayed at before but have made my choice based on reviews from others who have previously stayed at this hotel. I had a fantastic time when I went to Ayia Napa last year!!! We stopped just outside of the main square where all the pubs and clubs are, which just came alive at nightime!! During the day you can go to the beaches or why not try out the waterpark with some of the biggest water rides in Europe!! For the best club try 'The Castle' which has 4 floors to suit all tastes and you must go to The Bedrock Pub which is themed on the Flintstones!! Great fun!!
