I arrived at Yiannis Village with my 13-year-old daughter in the early hours of the morning and was completely shattered. I thought that we could have a couple of hours sleep before cheking out the resort of Sidari. Unfortunately I was unable to sleep because the stench coming from the inch thick pillow kept me awake, this was in addition to one or more dogs barking for the whole time that I lay there. There was a point that tiredness took over and I started to doze off but then the cockeral started waking up the rest of the village. I think I was one of the lucky ones because some of the people I spoke to were also subjected to a donkey 'eyore-ing' all night as well! Anyway, I managed to get about 2 hours sleep but as the walls in the apartments are wafer thin I was awoken by the family next door with a young child getting ready to go and get their breakfast. Great! Once I had woken my daughter we got ready to go for a walk in Sidari, which is easily a 20 minute walk along unpaved roads with mad drivers in all kinds of vehicles whizzing past. Sidari was ok as far as ok goes, depending on what you are looking for. I was hoping for something very Greek, Tavernas, lovely warm, welcoming people blah, blah, blah, but instead there were lots of bars and restaurants that catered to very English palates serving the likes of fish and chips, pizza, chinese, and chips, chips and more chips...! The people were less welcoming than I remembered from my last trip to Corfu 9 years ago. I just think that the Euro has made them more money oreintated and less friendly. Anyhow, we returned to the hotel and thought we'd go for a dip in the pool but there was about 30+ children occupying the pool and as I'm a teacher I couldn't bare to share my holiday with a load of children as when I'm back home I spend everyday with over 450 of the little loves (and yes, I do love kids, but it was my holiday, sorry!) I decided to cross the road to use the pool in Spiros' Apartments. The people there were lovely and friendly too and should I ever, ever return to Sidari I would actually go there because it's very nice, as are the people there. I was given 'daggers' by Tellis for the rest of the duration of my holiday probably because I wouldn't eat or swim at Yiannis Village. On the rare occassion that I went to the bar to ask a question or on the 1 occassion, to buy a drink, Tellis walked away when I reached the bar! (BABY!) In short, Yiannis Village is for dedicated beer drinkers who like to go on holiday, sit at the bar, take the occassional dip in the pool and never, ever leave the resort until it's time to go home. There were many people staying there who were like that and that's great (for them)! The rooms are very basic, they put the B in basic I can tell you. On the last day, myself and another person I met there who was from Liverpool and completely lovely, learned that the bedding does not get washed it only gets aired. This will explain the nasty smell in the room and on the bed. The showers work when they want to work in fact I just recommend not trying to shower at 7 in the evening because that's when everyone else is showering and you just get a trickle and there must only be one water pipe supplying the resort with all of its water. The room (Self catering apartment for 2) was TINY. The cleaners don't clean. My bathroom sink was never cleaned and nor was my toilet paper replaced. You HAVE to buy your own toilet paper...I mean, come on, I have a major problem with that! What did I pay for on this holiday? I had my towels changed once in the week that I stayed there so if you do dare to go there take your own. I do recommend that wherever you stay in Greece take NAPPY SACKS to put your soiled toilet paper that you're not allowed to flush. I had to check out at midday despite the coach coming to collect us at midnight and Tellis would not give me a late check out or other room (which I would have to pay €30 for anyway) I think this was because I was not in his 'fan club'. Another of the party that I met there was shouted at at full volume for scanning the mags (like you do) before buying one. That's just bloody rude and so wrong. I also found out that Tellis is quite violent and I probably escaped real hostility and possibly violence based on the fact that I am a woman. I was not the only person from Yiannis Village frequenting the Spiros Apartment's pool while I was there, there was a few others doing exactly the same as my daughter and me. The owner of Spiros is completely lovely. If you do go there because this kind of holiday suits your taste and you wouldn't mind trying some of the local food, there is a lovely, lovely taverna near the bottom of the road which is family run called Taverna Bavias. They are so lovely in there and quite cheap too. They serve local dishes as well as dishes that suit English tastes. I ate Greek Salads, Stuffed vine leaves, Feta cheese in the oven, my daughter ate cheese burger and chips some evenings this was washed down with 2 Fantas for her and half a carafe of House Red for me, followed by dessert... all for less than €20. I thought it was great value and very Greek. Oh, I must not forget to warn you that I was also told by another person staying there that Yiannis Village was on Holidays from Hell because of Tellis' violent/aggressive nature???? I was given evidence of this when he became very violent with a guy who ran up a tab at the bar and out of the blue Tellis demanded payment. They had a full on row with Tellis telling the guy to pack and leave. I don't know how that was resolved but it's not what you want when you go away on holiday. Oh and another thing. Disabled access is not very good either. If you have children take extra money for cab fares because the walk in the searing heat will be too much for them, not unless you never leave the resort. I would not recommend this as a nice place to go unless you are willing to be in Tellis' 'gang' or 'clique'. I could go on but there is far too much to tell so I'll leave it to somebody else to reveiw and fill in the gaps, but you pretty much have it as is it. For a cheap holiday I thought it was expensive to stay there for a week and you'd be better off spending your money elsewhere.

Ive been to Sidari this year and last year i thought the people were so friendly but my main problem was that there is no money being put into Sidari ,so compared 2 last year it has became more dirty for me 2 go back there again it would have 2 be cleaner than this year. I stayed at Yiannis village. It was nice but very basic. Last year i stayed at Kousaros Manos , costas , vasso , jane were great , very friendly . I think Sidari has become more of a family place but ice and caesars were good for clubbing . The beach is very dirty and needs lot of work and the smells from the sewage system was awfull you felt like you were cleaner before you went into the shower than when you came out . i would recommend sidari but you should hire a moped or car to go to a nicer beach . Arrived at Corfu and drove over the mountains what a great sight although a little scary thats where the holiday went wrong - when we arrived at Yiannis Village!!! got shown to our room which was up a flight of slippery steps with wasps, giant ones at that buzzing around our heads when entering our room the smell of damp hit us the room was pokey dirty and very cramped for a family of fou. This was supposed to be self catering LOL kitchen worktop didnt even have room for the kettle. Come dark we quickly realised we had no lights in the main bedroom this was to stay like this for the duration of the holiday (had to get ready in the sunlight, nice and sweaty, ladies try doing your hair with the sun beating down on you)eventially we went to the bar ordered a beer etc Tellis bought it across after a quick drink i noticed the floating food in the drink which i pfomptly took back after this we went into the town. Very nice roads -treaturous. Sidari itself has what you are looking for loud ;quiet .all there then back to the hotel it is a taxi back with kids when arriving back I realised Id left the key in the fob point on entering the bar Tellis beckoned me and started shouting do not leave your keys its my electricity (though we`d paid for this) things were getting quite heated untill wife stepped in we left and went to our dark dismall room the next day we spoke to a couple who showed us there room newer room 100 times better bright and clean and the same price!!we compained to the rep about this her response astounded us "you think they should pay more" she said, no i replied we should all have the same standard room - the good ones "its just how lucky you are"she replied. Is it a raffle I thought to myself? I once again asked for a light and mentioned the showers dont work ill look into it this was a recurring conversation to no avail next night we decided to risk the wrath of Tellis and have food at the hotel. What a mistake went to bar got drinks yet again took one back with egg down the side of glass to which Tellis replied only you complain, why only you i stood my ground and told him its dirty he changed it with a look of hate at me. We ordered food along with another couple about same time about an hour later we got our starter in the mean time a family group of about 10 turned up, these seemed to be in the clique club as they were served quite quickly. myself and the other couple still waiting for our main course 2 hous later .....the other couples wife had took their children back to their room it was bed time by now when Tellis brought their steak out the husband explained he didnt want this now as his wife and children had gone to bed ..!all hell broke loose with TELLIS screaming at this poor bloke i made it you pay for it .......the rep came to the rescue LOL and asked for 3 cheers for Tellis for doing his best lol what a rep she was!! We avoided the hotel for the rest of the holiday untill the day before leaving when TELLIS shouted jonny you want to pay for you air conditioning i told him i already paid for this when i got it he started screaming at me and came storming up i just sat down and said fetch the rep lol he stood behind me swearing and shouting untill i stood up and told him to piss off i could see he wanted a fight so i thought better not in foreign country and left it at that we reported all these matters to the rep while we were there and were given compensation for the lights of 100 we complained when we arrived home and received another 400 they dont give money away for nothing so believe me stay away from this hole and the little greasy fat bloke called Tellis.
