The 'childrens play' area at the Sunnyview Hotel is a death trap, just beside the main busy road with no gate. The attitude of the owners is terrible, false, over powering and quite obvious they are only interested is what is in your pocket and where you choose to spend it. We had an ok stay, although the smell and cleanliness was a problem, which all seemed quite small compared to the immature, money seeking attitude of the owners. Venture at your own risk.

Anyone who doesn't enjoy it at Sunnyview Hotel has only one person to blame and that is themselves. We have just had our 10th visit and shall keep going whenever we can. We met some lovely people there 6 years ago and we all meet up every time we visit. They are our best friends. If it wasn't for Sunnyview we would never have met them, and for the family George, Katerina, Francis, Greg and Nick - we love them all they are like our family.

Firstly we arrived at the sunny view hotel the rooms were clean but very, very, very basic (all Greek hotels are basic though). The shower was like a high rised tap with a lousy shower curtain. You get one pillow each with sheets that were only changed twice for the whole two weeks we were there, and we were staying during the heatwave! I can't say how disgusting the sheets and towels were as you were sleeping in your own sweat! We did complain however the cleaner just simply turned the sheets over, with no fresh towels. The air con was 70 for two weeks which was fairly steep and being told by others it was not worth a penny, we decided to get a fan from the town. We paid 20 for the fan which this was pleasing however George shouted in Greek and English towards both of us infront of other guests that we were not allowed to obtain the fan in the room without paying him 6 per night for electricity bills! As we've been to Greece before the air con is the biggest con and many people do take or purchase a fan to save money. In this situation paying the 6 per night was actually more then the air con! should I mention the BBQ? We arrived at night and the first thing he mentioned was the BBQ as reading reviews we just payed for both weeks as we didn't want the hassle! I did ask what kind of meat it was as I only eat chicken he did say he would order some in however for both two weeks I did not have any meat just rice and salad. I was disappointed! However I thought I would just get my money worth on the wine but this was just like a child party cup which tasted like mouthwash! Also when we arrived the keyring was loose and the key dropped off George slammed his hand down and said we had to pay one hundred pounds for the key cut. I just can't say how I felt I just wanted to go home at this point. There are so many ants and flies so make sure you pack insect replient. During our stay we sat on the balcony which was invested in ants we did again complain and of course he turned it round. He and his wife blamed it on us! We did not have food or drink on the balcony we just wanted to play cards and get an early night! Zach my boyfriend was very ill and George would not let us have a plastic cup with ice in the room but when you arrive there are plastic cups in the room! If I had to complain anymore I would be here all day. Looking at the reviews some seem to be quite pleasing, well that's what we thought we didn't care if it was a dump we just wanted to enjoy ourselves but George the hotelier was rude, unhelpful and money orienteted. It was untrue. Friends stayed in Kris Mari, it is the creme de la creme! Taxi into town 5 walk half an hour to 40 mins but very dangerous at night, no lights on the road not for families or couples just big groups of lads or girls. Restaurants in town which are fantastic: Yanni, Fu King Gou, Kola, Nemo (just for fish). Beach was not the best sand so hot it blistered my feet!

It happened to be while that young couple was there. They caused a lot of trouble not only to George but to us. At the begging of their holiday they fell out and most of the nights the girl was coming back after midnight on her own and she was kicking the door, shouting and swearing so they were disturbing us almost every night. Do you bring drinks from your house or a supermarket into a pub? Of course not but them, they used to do that and they were asking for ice cubes and glasses and only with 80 cents they could buy from the bar iced cold water. The linen was changed twice a week and the rooms during my 2 weeks stay was very clean. The BBQ is a must, is great value for the money plus my girlfriend had chicken twice, I just mentioned it and George sorted it out straight away, nothing is too much for George and his family. They've got a new system in karaoke which has more than 13000 songs. The air conditioning is worth every penny, I had it for 2 weeks, it cooled down the room and it didn't make any noise at all only the young couple disturbed us. I had a brilliant 2 weeks in a very nice hotel. So kids, because that couple, Zach and Jess were under 20 but they acted like 8 year old children please don't go abroad again because you are ruining the reputation of the British people. I heard them so many times talking to the staff and they were very rude, ignorant, impolite, nasty and unkind. I want to thank George, Katerina and Fran for being so helpful friendly and kind. While you are there you must try Katerina's cooking especially the potato salad and tzatziki. Definitely I will be going back to Sunnyview.

We have just got back from a holiday at Sunnyview Hotel. We went for 1 week and we thoroughly enjoyed every second of it. George and his family could not do enough for us. The whole hotel was nice and clean and it is only 25 minutes stroll (at a snails pace) along the sea front into town. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a safe and welcoming environment to holiday in.

September 2006. We read a mixed bag of reviews prior to leaving the UK and all we found was the positive side of them! George (the owner) is a business man and will love you if you visit his bar, eat his food and attend his BBQ - in return he offers great value for money with happy hour twice a night. On BBQ nights he works really hard to ensure you have a good night - and it is! He phoned and organised our jeep hire with competitive rates from Kos town and did our haggling on the phone to improve the deal from the printed price list we had. We found a really good friend in Francis (son) who helped us to explore the island by recommending some great places to visit in our jeep. Francis worked very hard to ensure that everybody enjoyed the time they did spend in the hotel bar, and he always kept that smile and cheerful personality throughout. Katrina (mother) oversees the cooking, but other than a plate of egg and bacon most mornings and a few lunchtime snacks we didnt really indulge in the hotel food as we enjoy eating out. During our 2 week stay we experienced no problems at all. The pool area was just what we wanted for a chill out when we were not out and about. We found the room to be basic and clean just like most Greek rooms are, although George did offer us a double bed after a few days when another room became vacant. We will certainly give this hotel and family the thumbs up. What can I say? Excellent! I was a bit worried about the location of the Sunnyview Hotel prior to arrival, but there was no need to be. I visited with a group of 7 friends and can honestly say it was one of the best holidays we have been on. George, Katrina, Francis and Greg made the holiday even better, they were all extreamly friendly and helpful, and George's bbq night is fantastic! The pool area of the hotel is fantastic, and the bar is great! I have nothing but praise for this hotel and the family that run it and will definately be visiting again!

Having had ten holidays at the Sunnyview my wife and I love the relaxing atmosphere great food, swimming pool, and superb surroundings. This hotel would be great for any family with young children as it is so well run by a great loving/careing greek family(george, katrina, francis and the boys). My family and I will be holidaying there again this year.

We cant believe anyone can give the Sunnyview any bad press. We have been twice now and loved it. George and Katrina who own Sunnyview are marvellous. Their sons Francis and Gregory are so amiable they seem like old friends. Nothing is too much trouble for them. The rooms are cleaned everyday with new bed sheets and everything is very clean. Ten minute walk away from the shopping area just far enough to get no noise from the nightlife. Very relaxing. We shall definately be returning. Cant wait. It really is like visiting old friends. Fabulous Sunnyview Hotel
This hotel is absolutely fantastic. The rooms are very clean and are cleaned daily. The owners and family are very welcoming and will do anything for you. There is a friendly atmosphere amongst all the people staying at the hotel because of the smallness of the hotel and having the weekly bbq is also the chance to get to know other people staying at hotel. I am so impressed with the hotel that I plan to return next year and take my children. If you go you will not be disappointed!! Tour Operator: Thompson

Dirty, unhygenic breakfast. My wife and I paid for b&b and the amount of flies from the pig farm were unbelievable. Pig farm was 120 yards away. Bed sheets were folded but not changed. Shabby rooms/ shabby everything. A total disgraceful attitude by manager/wife and son for not eating and drinking at their bar. Telephoned our room after midnight constantly harassing my wife to go to his barbecue, which was in no way worth £35 for the 2 of us. Other people as we came told us they had been harassed by him . Apparently he waits by the entrance of the bar asking people why they are going out of his bar to drink and eat in the town instead ! On the last day.. he asked my wife to give a good report to Thomsons so he could get a bigger review in the 2006 brochure. Unbelievable. Excellent family run hotel, very friendly helpfull they couldn't do enough for you.|The food is also of high standard cooked by the owners wife they offer traditional greek dishes to ordinary typically english fast food selection, not forgetting the family BBQ night. The rooms were spacious and extremley tidy (room serviced every day) Pleasant bar and large selection of drinks with Happy Hour twice a night. Good family size swimming pool surrounded by sunloungers, only minutes from the town centre of Kardemena and all the facilities you require, all in all a lovely place to spend a holiday. I had a lovely time at the Sunnyview hotel, it was just far away enough from the centre to be able to sleep at night and it had a lovely pool. The rooms were basic, but most Greek places are. I agree the maid didnt come round enough to change the sheets, but they were not that bad, anyway who goes on holiday to a lively resort to stop in their room all the time?? It was good for all ages there were familes couples and young groups, and the best bit was there were not too many kids there getting in the way and screaming. (If you dont have kids you dont want to go on holiday and suffer anyone elses). The food menu was basic burgers and chips etc but it was cheap and nice too. We went out to dinner somewhere else every night then to bars in town we were never once made to feel bad for it. George and his family were happy to see us enjoyin our hol - they even rang and booked our taxis for us. We did get guilt tripped into the barbecue but not harrassed and it was worth every penny - as much as you can eat and it was lovely. They had a happy hour too whilst it was on and they do make a strong cocktail! And yes there were bugs trying to get your food - but what else do you expect its Greece not Weston-super-mare. The bar is open for as long as you want it to be and the family are really talkative and nice. Only one bad point - why was the young girl that worked there always so grumpy? What did we do to upset her? Maybe she was compensating for everyone else being so happy! At the end of the day Sunnyview was a wicked place to be for the small amount it cost - perfect for those who want to laze round the pool in the day and have a bit of nightlife too. This hotel was a joke. Do they ever buy new bed sheets? I was ill the first 3 days and so was my girlfriend. We had the food there and it was full of flying insects. Had to close the windows because of the smell of cattle sh't. We wont be booking with Thomsons again. wrecked our holiday. Tour Operator: Thomson

Spent two weeks at Sunny View. George, Katerina and their family were great hosts, very friendly and kind. Lovely pool, basic B & B accommodation but comfortable. In need of some updated towels though! Bit of a long walk into Kardamena town but nice along the coast road (not recommended at night). Would definitely return to Sunny View in the future.
