We stayed in the Belair Beach Hotel in Ixia, Rhodes for the weekend. First of all the pool is very poorly designed and most of the day it is in the shade (with less than 2 hours in the sun every day) which makes it too cold to enjoy swimming except maybe in the summer. The AC was Less than decent barely cooling the room (luckily the temperature was OK at the time). The food was nice but got boring after the first two days. in The last day we left some food on the table and the whole room filled with ants. During our stay I got bitten more than a couple of time by unknown insects But it didn't look like a mosquito bite so beware. If even after you read this review you decide to take this hotel Make sure not to rent any cars from the Top's car rental located inside the hotel. Their cars just break down and are very poorly treated. We got stuck after less than 50 KM of driving (going to Lindos) and the same weekend we saw 2 more cars from the same car waiting for a replacement vehicle after the car they rented from tops broke down. To make bad things worse the owner of the rental agency declined to compensate us for our lost time (2.5 hours waiting for a car) and even demanded that we return the car exactly on time or he will charge us for another day.

Bel Air Hotel is situated on the main road in Ixia. Rhodes Town is only about 4 miles - we walked it one day. The beach opposite is nothing to write home about and we got a taxi to Faliraki on three occasions. Taxis are reasonable and the fares are all standardised which helps. The rooms were basic but comfortable, with a fridge and a nice powerful shower. The buffet style restaurant got very samey after a while and we started skipping meals in favour of the lovely gyros kebabs from nearby snack bars. However there was always fruit and delicious Greek yoghurt in the morning and the makings of a good Greek salad in the evenings. A word of warning - on the last evening we settled down on the sofas in the lounge to wait for our early-morning connection to the airport. Well, there was clearly more than just me and my partner occupying those sofas! It's two days after we got back and my arms and legs are covered in itchy swollen bites. You have been warned!
