We travelled to Planos Aparthotel, Tsilivi, with 5 adults from 30-60 and 2 children aged 12 and 14. We travelled with Thomas Cook who provided us with a poor service as 3 years before, they had us booked in a different hotel than we had booked more than a year before. The flight was delayed for 1 hour due to mechanical problems, but when the flight did begin, oh how we dreaded it. My brother, who loves flying, thought he was going to crash! Though we got to the airport, very simple procedure, we got on the coach and travelled 25 minutes down the road to Planos Aparthotel. We wheeled our luggage into the reception where no rep lead us. The receptionist, a young woman from Thailand, had no clue who we were so just handed us any key to our rooms. That's basically all the help we got. We went down to our rooms where it was very hot and the beds where not even made. We had specifically booked a television, didn't receive one until our last 3 days on holiday, more than 1 week later. We had to pay 60 euros for the air conditioning, which was not very deer, the bathroom shower was less than 1 metre wide and every time you had a shower you had to put a bundle of towels on the floor as the whole room flooded with water. Do not drink the tap water as it is mucky and cloudy. All the activities in the reception were either deer, out of order or in use. The most fun I had was lying by the pool, which I never went in as it was full of cockroaches, still ALIVE! The breakfast was disgusting, I got food poisoning and so did everyone else. The staff did not speak a word of English and got our orders wrong. Staff are not very helpful, we saw no reps in our hotel, we didn't know what our rep looked like. Flowers outside balcony attracted flies which was very annoying. Flight noise wasn't that bad but a little noisy. Nothing for children. We did not know what time to check out or when the coach was coming as no reps had put a notice up! My son went to the toilet and came back and threw up. He calmed down and explained that somebody had wiped their backside with their hand and smeared it down the wall. I went to see and the smell was atrocious. NEVER AGAIN WILL I GO THERE! Not recommended.

The manager and his staff are friendly, efficient and very helpful. The apartments were kept absolutely clean and fresh towels and sheets were given every day of the week. The pool area and garden were kept clean, the water clear. The planting in the garden was new and just beginning to come into bloom, the roses were lovely. The bar area, toilets and showers under the pool area were kept clean and worked well, useful for those with a late flight. Overall a superb effort by all the staff and I should like to congratulate the Manager for all his efforts, he seems to be on duty most of the day and every day but his management works. It's an extremely pleasant place to be based for adventuring the island. I would recommend the around the island boat trip, book it in the town of Tsilivi, near the Planos Apartments, opposite the jewellery shop but take a picnic and water with you as the food on the boat is very expensive and looked really greasy. The beaches and coastal walks were good but when you come from a place like Cornwall it is difficult to compare other peoples' beaches, we are spoilt for choice in Cornwall. Tsilivi sea is much warmer in May so it does win out on Cornwall on that point.
We found a great taverna just down the road from Planos Apartments, it's called Greek Taverna Edem grill house, service good, food good and staff so very friendly, couldn't fault the place or them at all. They were the best value for money too. Enjoy your holiday reader, and have a drink on the seafront taverna run by a Greek lady and her South African husband, the best bar and view in Tsilivi, it's called Charlie's Beach Bar and was a pleasant place to sit and talk, read or just daydream and people watch.

Planos aparthotel is in a great location, strolling distance to the beach, 3 supermarkets within a few metres & great restaurants on your doorstep. Staff made us feel very welcome. Pool is a good size, plenty of sunbeds, kept clean & tidy. Maids came in each day to tidy apartment, empty bins etc. Pool bar has a good choice of food at reasonable prices & Chris, Angela and their daughter who run it are very friendly. Take a horse & carriage ride into the busier part of Tsilivi for 10 euros if you want more variety. More family orientated than Laganas, most bars have a kiddies play area!! All in all a great holiday.
