Location is the only positive thing about the Hotel Benczur. We payed extra money for air condition that was not working. Staff at the reception kept telling us that it's not healthy to have air conditioning?!?! The staff were not speaking English, were very unpleasent, didn't want to call a taxi etc. The most unpleasant hotel! Avoid it!

The location of the hotel is very good, but the personnel, especially at the reception are rude, not willing to help, speak very poor English. I am walking with crutches due to very difficult knee operation and they never showed any sign of goodwill to help me with the luggage, they refused to help us with the taxi and we have never been treated with such disrespect. The A/C for which we paid extra €15 per night per room did not work half of the time (it was +40ºC in Budapest) and the price of this hotel compared to what they offer is way too high! I would recommend everyone to avoit it!

We stayed in one of the currently unrefurbished rooms. My mum and dad in one room and next door I stayed with my 7 year old son. They were basic, but clean - with only a shower (no bath), however due to there being a really hot spell the shower was better than a bath! A TV was in the room and also a well stocked fridge. The mattresses were a little saggy but bedlinen was fresh and clean. We stayed bed and breakfast, which was fine and there was plenty of choice. I have stayed in many hotels ranging from 2 star to 5 star and would say for a 3 star hotel it was pretty average. No complaints, except from noisy coach parties - who liked to stay out talking very loudly until early hours! An excellent locality though with easy access walking to Heros Square and museums, swimming baths, zoo and underground not far either to transport you down town. Tour Operator: Own arrangements
