Dont Believe what is said on the phone or at checkin - Bill & Jenn McCarty. Date of travel: Jun 2006
My wife and I booked a room at the Millennium Apartments on 22 Dec 05 for a stay beginning 15 Jun 06 through 25 Jun 06. When we finished the booking process we notice that it had only charged us for the deposit so we called and spoke with the person at the front desk to pay the rest of the amount. While speaking with them we asked about the penthouse and they told us it was on the 9th floor and had a beautiful view, so we paid the remainder of our balance. A few days later while we were booking other parts of our travel we ran across some web pages that spoke very poorly of the Millennium Apartments but very highly of the Christchurch Hall Apartments. We called back to inquire about changing our reservations to the other Apartments. The person at the Millennium Apartments was very nice and went over each question we had with us and answered each one to our satisfaction. They also pointed out that the other apartment did not have a 9th floor penthouse so we would not have as nice a location or view. So at this time we decided to remain at the Millennium Apartments. In January a member of our party found out that they would not be able to go with us to Ireland. We again called the Millennium to inquire about moving into a two bedroom apartment. The person at the front desk was very nice and told us the view would not be as good from any of the two bedrooms as from the 9th floor penthouse. So again after talking with a person at the apartments we decided to remain in the 3 bedroom penthouse with the understanding that it was on the 9th floor with a view of the river. When we arrived in Dublin and went to check in we were informed that we would not be staying in the apartment we were told about but a different one. This one was also a 3 bedroom but in a different building with no view of the river. We were informed that they could not promise the 9th floor because it is a first come first serve service and another couple was already in it. After speaking with the very nice young lady at the front counter she said she could see if we could move into that one after the people in it moved out later in the week. We only agreed because she was a very sweet person. We came back when we were told and we were informed that they had decided to stay over a few days and to come back Sunday to see if we could move. We left for an all day outing on Saturday to N. Ireland. When we get back we find out that the front desk person had told us the wrong day and we could no longer have the apartment. The manager was very rude about it as if it was our fault all this was happening. She was extremely short with my wife about the situation. On the 21st I sent a note to the manager saying I wanted a meeting with her about this and gave a time frame to meet in. I found the note at the very end of the time frame with a time to meet that was outside of that time frame. The time frame had been given because we had tickets to events and were leaving on that Sunday. We left the information of where we would be staying, in Ireland, for the next few days so she would be able to contact us. No contact attempts were made by her during that time. Upon getting back to the U.S., I attempted to contact her several times and was just able to get a hold of her 01 Aug 06. While going over the whole incident again with her she began to raise her voice. I had not raised my voice nor was I short or rude in any manner. When I pointed this out she said it was because she could barley hear me. My question there is what her yelling at me has to do with not being able to hear me, why did she not ask for me to please speak up? I was then informed the only way to contact anyone else about this problem was through an email going through her. I sent the email over two weeks ago and have heard nothing back. My problem was that no less then three times I was told that our apartment was on the 9th floor. Not once was it ever said that it would not be on the 9th floor. All in all, dont believe what is said on the phone or at check in. Tour Operator: Self
