We stay at the Crown Jewel Hotel for Xmas and New Year 2006, the staff were lovely and the location good but that was it. The rooms were very dirty, we only had half a sheet on the bed when we arrived, so the top half of the bed was covered for our torsos to lie on but our feet were on the bare mattress! The cot for the baby was a death trap with rusty nails hammered all over it and glue holding it together. The door to the balcony was broken and not able to be locked which is very dangerous with a young baby walking around. I had to go and buy cleaning products at the supermarket to make it hygienic for ourselves and our son. I would not recommend this hotel as the facilities were terrible it was only the poor understaffed workers that made our stay a bit more pleasant.

The hotel we are staying in Penang is a beach hotel and it's cheap too. Not far from town and it is a nice place to stay. The staff there are clean, well mannered, polite - just like in a 5 star hotel. Tour Operator: Self
