Myself and partner and our daughter have just returned from a 'promotional' week at the Radisson Golden Sands Resort & Spa. We did have to sit through the presentation for a couple of hours and to be honest, if we could have found the money we would have bought the week offered. It was a beautiful sea view room and an absolute bargain but we are buying a house at the minute and just couldn't do it.
We were not hassled at all by the reps other than the presentation and didn't see any 'hard sell'.
The pools were lovely but get there early and get your towels down...usual story! The private beach was nice too but if you can, hire a car for at least a couple fo your days and get down to some other local beaches. Gjenja Beach is lovely (near Mgarr) and nowhere near as crowded as Golden Bay.
We ate in three of their restauarants:
Breakfast in Flavours....17 euro for everything you could want but that did work out quite expensive if you did it everyday for 3!(We bought bread, cheese, ham etc from the deli in the hotel to save some money) Beach bar Munchies is 5 euro for full english too so try that.
Dinner in Agliolio..... Pizza Express prices here. Good value and good food. Service a little slow and always book. It can get quite busy, especially if you want an outside seat.
Dinner in Essence...this was a treat for my birthday dinner. Expensive but fabulous food and service. Lovely views over the bay as the sun goes down.
The spa is amazing and fairly reasonable. You can just go inside to the pool and spa areas for a real chillout if the heat is too much for you.
They let us stay in our room till 3pm on the check out day for free and supplied a courtesy room for showers and things before our return taxi at 7pm.
All in all, we loved it. Entertainment a little thin on the ground but you can get a free bus into the main towns.
Hope this helps you decide to go.. Malta is a beatiful place.
Ps. Try and get to the Blue Lagoon to swim....it's gorgeous before it gets too busy.

The Radisson Golden Sands Resort & Spa is lovely although service is 3 star not 5 star. Out on a limb so need transport to get to shops restaurants etc. Food in Flavours restaurant is very repetitive, same for breakfast and not much change for dinner with same music tape every night. This is really a timeshare not a hotel and as you sit by the pool there is a steady stream of people being given the tour! More annoyingly you have to sit having your breakfast while some poor souls next to you are given the 'hard sell' by the Island Residence Club rep. The only timeshares available are 'Country' views, ie. looking out the back over scrubland. If you want a week doing nothing and you can tolerate being hounded and giving up time to sit and listen to the patter go for it otherwise steer clear. If you are on a room only basis it will cost you £40 a day in food to eat in the restaurants. There is a limited (expensive) deli.

We booked on www.destinationmalta.com with Dream Holidays International using their special introductory offer. It was absolutely a bargain, never been in such a luxury hotel at such a low price. The hotel is located next to a private sandy beach and is absolutely wonderful.
