We have travelled to Cancun before, and this is by far the worst hotel we have stayed in. We arrived at 10:45am and were told check in wasn't until 12. We asked for bracelets, so we could have a drink while we waited, as we paid for all inclusive, and were told "no". At 12 we were given bracelets, but no rooms, stuck hanging around in our winter clothing until 3pm. The staff was not accommodating at all, friends that travelled with us had medical issues and were not allowed to change from an upper room to a lower one.The Lobby bar is non-functional, and is for storing luggage only. The information provided on several sites led us to believe there was an a la carte restaurant which is untrue,and the other restaurant mentioned is nothing more than a pool bar were you can only order a hotdog. The daily buffet was very small, and the items rarely changed, with only a choice of one main course. I recommend the fish. There is no entertainment area, except for a warped ping pong table, and about 3 cd's playing over and over on one speaker. The staff was also not very pleasant. We love Cancun. The locals and the services we encountered uptown were wonderful, but warn against staying at the Imperial Las Perlas! Seriously.
