Worst Stay in a Hotel Ever - Anonymous. Date of travel: Aug 2008
First of all the El Cid La Ceiba Beach Hotel is not a 5 star it is a 3 star and that's overestimating it really. Apparently, they think it's ok to start construction at 2 and 4 in the morning when people are trying to sleep. The first time we complained they moved us one floor up. They said there wouldn't be anymore noise. They lied and why do they have to do construction at 2 in the morning?! Why can't they do it during the day. The whole area is blocked off it's not getting in anyone's way! So the second time I went down at 4 in the morning and they offered ANOTHER room change on the 7th floor. The beds will make your back ache so much it might actually take you about 2 minutes to rise up out of bed to prevent any further injury. If you don't plug up the bath drain the entire bathroom smells like the most foul vile thing you can think of. If you don't have the A/C on it smells like mold. There must be a gigantic hidden anthill somewhere because they are all over the place. There is a cruise ship that comes in everyday except Sunday bringing in tons of passengers. This could be a good or bad thing depending on you. There are so many other hotels in Cozumel. I suggest you keep looking.
