Although we did not pick the most expensive room, our room should have been of 5 star quality. We should have had sufficient air conditioning, a shower that was properly attached to the wall, and a phone that worked. What further reduced the quality was the terrible service we received in dealing with these problems. It took days for them to replace the phone and they never repaired the shower well enough to avoid the flooding of our bathroom. But the worst of the experiences had to do with the air conditioning and fan. On three separate occasions, all of the electricity went out. On one of the occasions, even after they were able to get it back on, the tv did not work for the entire evening. On the other two occasions, they were able to turn it back on but we were not able to use the fan to supplement the air conditioning, thus the room was stuffy and hot until hours later when it finally filled the room. Can you imagine a 5 star hotel advertising itself as 5 star that supplies inadequate air conditioning and shower, let alone a service that is not up to repairs? We have never, in even 2 star hotels over the years, had such bad service.

Stayed at Les Jardins de la Koutoubia in Marrekech last November; we have been to the city many times but this hotel was exceptional - the best one we have been to. The hotel is very conveniently located, near to the souks in the colourful Medina of Marrakech and near Jemaa El Fna Square. Les Jardins de la Koutoubia has a wonderful setting, ideal for a relaxing holiday, and has a couple of wonderful restaurants including one on the rooftop where the food is cooked over a traditional charcoal fire. The hotel staff are lovely and service first-rate. We will definately stay here again if we return to Marrakech.
