We stayed at the Polana Hotel for one night en route to Johannesburg and that was enough. After the luxury of Vamezi Island this was a bit of a come-down. The Polana is the equivalent of a 3-star hotel in Europe, but rather more expensive. The rooms are in desperate need or renovation and the food is very mediocre. No doubt there's not a lot of choice in Maputo, but I expect there's a better option than the Polana Hotel.
