Paradise at A Chalet In The Ferns
Chalet In The Ferns is surrounded by gorgeous trees yet close to cafes it was paradise. Particularly the little track opposite with a waterfall. Only 20 minutes into the city if you want any action.

Nestled in amongst the native bush and lush tree ferns, the chalet in the ferns offers unsurpassed seclusion and tranquility which was just perfect for my recent writing retreat. A cute little two story cottage with private balconies, the chalet has two double bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and spa bath, Sky TV and even a stereo with a selection of CDs. Upstairs is the most heavenly loft bedroom complete with chandelier and high quality linen and even a gorgeous writing desk overlooking the greenery of the scenic waitakeres. The Chalet in the Ferns is a short walk to the village of Titirangi and its many restaurants and cafes and less than an hour's drive to the wild West Coast beaches of Piha and Karekare. Titirangi is about an hour from Auckalnd airport. I highly recommend Chalet in the Ferns for a well-priced escape that you may never want to leave!

We wanted a holiday cottage not too far from the city and easy to find from Auckland Airport and that is how it was described - the photos looked great! And it was everything and more than we had hoped for. We hired a car on arrival right at the airport and with the printed instruction sheet we headed off to find our accommodation after a long flight and feeling just a little odd with not having much sleep. Without any problems in half an hour we arrived at The Ferns Chalet in Titirangi, a small hilltop village just outside the city which we were going to use as a base for the next ten days. Our little guest cottage was surrounded, as its name implied, with giant tree ferns. It shares the property with The Ferns B&B further up the driveway which was handy as Kate, the owner, is available should you need maps or information on what to do and see around Auckland. The Chalet has lovely furnishings, the sofas are soft and comfortable and our big bed upstairs was gorgeous with an array of scatter cushions. The bathroom is gorgeous. The first thing we noticed was the heated floor and spa bath. The kitchen cupboards had a selection of breakfast provisons and snack food to start us off so that we didn't have to think about breakfast the following day. Almost everything you need is supplied including an umbrella in case it rains (being in a rainforest). We loved the Chalet In The Ferns, and walking up through the forest trail to the Hardware Cafe for the best coffee in Auckland. We are living here now and highly recommend this lovely first introduction to New Zealand.
