The ProPeru Agrotourism project (Chichubamba B&B) was an amazing site to visit and I highly recommend the stop to anyone whether you wish to get away and enjoy the beauty and slower pace in the small town or learn more about local life in the Sacred Valley. While I was there, I visited workshops on ceramics, beekeeping, chicha making, and organic fruit and was guided through the process of making all the above by the local microenterpreneurs themselves. Though I didn't have time to visit them all, there are many other workshops you can visit including manufacturing artesan chocolate, raising cuys, traditional farming techniques, baking bread, lombriculture, fruticulture and making humus among others. Highly recommended. Contact William, an amazingly friendly man, at agrotourism@hotmail.com if interested in arranging a visit. Tour Operator: self-guided
Alastair M Smith. Date of travel: Jul 2005The accomadation at the Organic Fruit Farm was some of the best (not to mention the cheapest) that I came accross in the whole of my travels in Peru! Comfortable beds in beautifuly decorated rooms, and yes...there was....HOT WATER in CLEAN SHOWERS! The owner, William (an overwhelmingly friendly guy) is in the process of building a small tree house museum of the area and even installing a bit of a bar, where you can try his homemade fruit liqure!
