Paraiso Albufeira - Hughes. Date of travel: Sep 2007
We stayed at the Paraiso Albufeira at the end of September, it is excellently located between "The Strip" and the Old Town. The hotel is lovely, although the reception area is starting to look a little worn. The hotel caters primarily for All Inclusive customers, it does have some SC accommodation which we booked and the facilities were more than adequate. However, SC guests had to wait until 2pm to check into their rooms (we arrived at 11am after and early morning set off) which we didn't appreciate as AI could go straight to their rooms. Food prices were inflated for SC customers, it was much better to eat away from the hotel completely. I'd say if you're All Inclusive it's a great hotel but as a SC guest you feel almost like a second class citizen and the price paid for SC was not really worth it. Also the pool was freezing, some of the kids were crying as it was so cold initially.
