We have just returned from a family vacation to Puerto Rico where we rented a three-bedroom townhouse in Beach Village at Palmas Del Mar through VIP Properties July1-8, 2006. I must say that we will never be going back and VIP Properties has not refunded any rental fees in spite of the electricity being out for an extended period of time.
The beach at Palmas Del Mar is nice and very picturesque, but the water is very rough; the undertow can be strong; and the water had an incredible amount of floating sea grasses. The kids were “grossed-out� because of all the grass that got in their hair or in their swimsuits. There was no snorkeling anywhere close, and the dive shop that was advertised to be in the resort had closed and moved to Fajardo. The five divers in our extended group had to drive an hour north to find a dive shop that was operating dive tours.
In addition, the electricity went out during a storm during the night one day and wasn’t fully restored until late in the evening. There were no candles or flashlights in the condo, so that it was unsafe even to go into the bathrooms. Then the electricity went out again the next day just as we were preparing for dinner. Our rental agent, VIP Properties, has not responded to our request for some refunded rent, even though we were without air conditioning and food refrigeration.
I love traveling, but this was a trip I want to forget.
