A gem of a hotel in a great city - Frances Clayton. Date of travel: Jul 2006
What a gem of a hotel. The Protea North wharf hotel is perfectly located - right near the Cape Town waterfront and the convention center where I was attending a conference. I found the staff to be most helpful, friendly and it was never too much trouble to do anything (for example, I had a sore ankle and was on crutches and they made an incredible effort to make sure I was comfortable, bags were carried etc). My apartment style room was HUGE, airy, light and incredibly comfortable (again, a blessing with an injury) and the maid service was brilliant. Contemporary furniture and fittings and everything worked, The bathroom was lovely (Im picky about this). Breakfast was lovely - excellent value and tasty. This is a perfect hotel for those who want to be close to the city centre and is ideal not only for business people but also for holidaymakers. I highly recommend it. Cape Town itself is in some ways similar to parts of California and in a strange way I felt at home! but there is enough that is very different to see and do. an INCREDIBLE place. I would love to go back, esp when not hampered by an injury.
