The Protea Hotel Sea Point is centrally located in Cape Town, just moments from the Atlantic ocean and near to the beaches and sights of the city. The Protea Sea Point is a standard city centre hotel, not very intimate, but central, pretty comfortable and fairly good value. The hotel is on Sea Point promenade which is on the Atlantic ocean and is a lovely place to walk in the evening. Sea Point Main road, behind the hotel, has a choice of bars and restaurants and shops, although for a better choice you can go to the V&A waterfront - a one hour walk or a short trip in a taxi. The nearest decent beaches are in the next door suburbs of Clifton and Camps Bay, again a short taxi ride away. The hotel has a rooftop pool, but note that it is much smaller than it looks on the photos, but all the same its a nice place to relax and sunbathe. We had a 4th floor room overlooking the mountains, which was nice. Aparently the rooms at the back on the first floor are best avoided, noisy and you can smell the kitchen. The Protea Sea Point hotel is a good choice; I wouldnt mind staying here again.
