I have stayed at the Elangeni twice when I ran the Comrades Marathon. The Elangeni is popular among Comrades runner, who together with families probably make up more than half the guests in the days surrounding the race. The staff are kind and helpful. Rooms are clean but a bit sterile. All rooms have sea view. The breakfast and dinner buffet is rich and of high quality but a bit pricey by South African standards. There are several cheaper eateries on the beach front. The hotels serves a complimentary Pasta buffet for Comrades runners the evening before the race and early breakfast on race day. Be careful while walking the surroundings of the hotel at night. The manager of the top Russian Comrades runners was mugged while taking an evening walk close to hotel.
