The Owlhouse backpackers is the only one in town, owned by a German couple who seem to run most of the accommodation around. Super relaxed, the doors stay unlocked and there's a note on the door instructing you to make yourself at home! The owners seem to hang out at their restaurant across the road, where you can book dinner and breakfasts. Small and comfortable, the backpackers is fully equipped for self catering and has a fridge packed with drinks and snacks and works on an honour system - keep your own tab by writing down what you take!! There is one tiny dorm with 3 bunk beds and a double room which we took. It has its own entrance but is connected to the dorm. Fortunately there were only 2 others there, so very quiet and there appeared to be other accommodation attached as there were others who used the facilities. Set in an old house, so one bathroom with a bath, no shower. Very old school. Also a relaxed lounge and dining room. The beds were comfortable and although no aircon, the thick walls of the old house keep it beautifully cool. Lots of mosquitos but we travelled with a liquid mozzie thing which kept them away. Exactly what we needed and so relaxing. Not the place to be if looking for a party, but wonderful and very reasonable prices.
