• RIU FERRARA HOLIDAY REVIEWS

Riu Ferrara, Nerja
The Riu Ferrara occupies a central position on the promenade and is within walking distance to a selection of bars and restaurants. It is also just a short stroll from the beach and boasts magnificent views of the Med. The hotel has excellent leisure facilities including a huge swimming pool and recently redesigned gymnasium. more

We've just returned from the Riu Ferrara and had a great time. The hotel is immaculate (if not a bit dated) and all areas are maintained well. Lovely pool area, again spotless. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. Rooms are a fair size and amenities are good. Delicious breakfast each morning. The local area is great for those who love to walk, and the old quarter is good for exploring.

Staff in the restaurant were great but reception was awful! We were put into the wrong room and they basically said they were over booked so take it or leave it. They blamed Thomson, and Thomson blamed them. The swimming pool area was very nice but you had to fight for a sun bed. This has never happened to me before so I was quite surprised. On two occasions people had shouting matches. Great entertainment but a bit stressful! The evening entertainment was ok. They worked really hard at it but it was a bit corny. I rate the hotel location as fair. It was right next to a main road, opposite a lap dancing bar of some sort, and next to a huge open ground parking area that was incredibly dusty. On the other side was the beach and a little shopping area which was very nice. Hotel service I can only rate as poor. Restaurant staff were good but reception just didn't seem to know what they should be doing. I think they tried hard but it just came across as chaos. Value for money I can only rate as poor. We were put in the wrong apartment and had to cram my two daughters into a single bedroom with a single bed and a fold out bed for two weeks. The sofa bed in the living area was not an option because it wouldn’t fold out flat. There was no children’s entertainment and facilities. This was a £4000 holiday and it felt like hard work from the moment we got there.
