Yumbo - GP. Date of travel: Oct 2006
Best fun show in the Yumbo centre, and to Dale who said Alan Ward would be sad, if he hadn't run Cafe la Belle into the ground then maybe he would have still been there, it turned from a great place to an expensive rip off, but I suppose the fact that he ignored the gay customers and went out to cater to 18-30 holidays signalled the death knell for Labelle, after all you can't make a silk purse form a sows ear, never bite the hand that feeds you as the saying goes, when he ditched the gay audience he might as well have closed his bank account, 2 sharons from Essex sharing a malibu and coke all evening isnt gonna make him rich!

Barbados Apartments - Richard. Date of travel: Jul 2006
The rooms at Barbados I Apartments were basic but they would of been good for teenagers going for a good time (clubs etc.) . The hotel isnt realy suitable for children as it is full of mad noisy teenagers. they kept us awake every night until about 2am. There is lots of supermarkets and you can pick up LOTS of bargins at the Yumbo Centre just acroass the road and around the corner. The Yumbo Centre has lots of places to eat and you are ALWAYS dragged in to "view the menu" even if you have no intention of eating!! The beach is a good 10-15 mins walk down hill and when you arrive if you get approached by some one with a scratch prize and surprise surprise you win the star prize DONT fall into there trap it is a rip off internet scam for "cheap holidays in 5* hotels" which actualy makes you lose money in the end! There are many activities to do on the beach like jet skiing and quad biking but this is expensive for what it is and the time you do it for. Tour Operator: Cosmos

Had a 'ball' - Richard Heriot. Date of travel: Feb 2006
Arrived back from Gran Can on Tuesday, and am finally getting back into my normal life!
The Barbados apartments suited us perfectly (2 males 21, 22 + 1 female 23). Although we incurred a occupancy supplement from our tour operator for not filling the apartment it was worth it as it meant we each had our own sleeping area (Handy when after a few drinks you decide to bring company back!).
The apartment was extremely clean, and was kept that way by the maids, which is impressive given our skills of spreading clothing across the place!
The pools were great - one pool is quieter, whereas the other has a bar which also does food, and also has music. This pool was the hub of our holiday - be sure to visit the pool bar which is run by 'H', who is a total riot!
If you like the beach it is walkable (about 10-15mins walk), or you can get a taxi for about 3 euro. We decided after visiting that the pool was much more convenient!
Nightlife-wise the Barbados is extremely handy - the Yumbo is literally around the corner, or if that isnt your scene the Kasbah centre is walkable or a 2.50 euro taxi ride. Other centres are also close, but we didnt manage to explore them all.
There are a number of restaurants around the area - British bulldog - pub which does food as well as drinks is great for hang-over food, and there is also a really nice italian restaurant across the road, and a chinese nearby.
Our only niggle is that our neighbours were not too happy with us - they were apparently there for the sun and nothing else. They awoke us one morning with the complaint 'Sie machen Boom-Boom-Boom am Morgen!'
However apart from this minor hiccup we had a great stay, and I would recommend the Barbados to anybody wanting an affordable place to stay, which is close to all the places to go out.

We stayed in Barbados I Apartments. They were quite basic but have everything you need really if you want to eat out. If you enjoy cooking on your hols then you can hire a microwave and there's a 2 ring cooker but to be honest we didn't bother as its quite cheap to eat anyway. The pool was lovely in our apartments, well one of them anyway, we didn't tend to use the other one near the bar so much as it was quite busy and noisy and mum doesn't swim so we didn't want to be in there.
