Hotel Puerto Azul - Olivier Deheselle. Date of travel: Jul 2007
The Aparthotel Puerto Azul was powerful, but the staff and the service was power poor! So, in fact, never again! Even if the rooms are nice, the reception was unable to tell the room direction, bar staff not pleasant, food was poor in quality and freshness.

Family pleasure - Ricky Mann. Date of travel: Aug 2006
Have just arrived home from our holiday in Puerto Rico and already booked in to Puerto Azul for next year! As a family we had a great time - lovely for kids, with a nice pool, lots of other kids and plenty to do in the area. Next time we will opt for self-catering though, as there was better food to be had outside of the hotel. Many families return year after year so that speaks for itself.

WARNING!!! I don't mean to put down previous reviewers, but this resort can (must) be summed up as brash, noisy and full of concrete. It obviously suits many but if it's peace and quiet you want-forget it. Unless you're lucky, the beach is a good trek away, there is constant building work and the loud thump of disco music does not ease until at least 3.a.m. As I said, it might suit those with "ants in thier pants"! Superb for Families, yes its on a hill but so is most of the resort and this is situated right next to a flight of steps so you dont need to walk far before you ascend!!!
Apartments very clean and tidy with fantastic views over the bay or Atlantic Ocean!!!
Pigeons can be menace but soon get the message if you dont feed them.

best hotel we ever have been to - Tanya Rasmussen. Date of travel: Nov 2005
I went to Puerto Azul for one week with 2 children and man, and we got the best service from the hotel. We had a great week and the staff was great and the service was in top. Ready to help and there was always time to talk and the swimming pool is great for small children. The rooms are ok, and the cleaning of the rooms are ok. We only have positive things to say to the hotel and the staff and on 3 december 2005 we have chosen the same hotel for 14 days. We think its the best hotel we ever have been to and looking forward to the 3 december 2005..

Best Ever - Arthur Jennings and family. Date of travel: Aug 2005
We have tried several apartments at Puerto Rico during the past few years, but our recent stay at Puerto Azul was undoubtedly the best ever. They are clean and spacious with a huge sunny balcony, equipped with a table and chairs from where we had a wonderful view of the harbour and sea. The kitchen had all mod cons. Although the pool was a bit too cold for swimming in there were plenty of sunbeds if you want to pick up an out of season tan. Some people may be put off by the lifts (the place is built into a cliffside) and long walks to your room, but I think it is worth it for the view and great facilities. Tour Operator: Airtours

Puerto Azul - Kerry Aspinal. Date of travel: Jun 2005
Very nice from the outside; was nick-named 'Butlins' by the locals. Apts were dirty, smelt damp, infested with cockroaches, mould all over the bathroom. We were moved the second night to newly renovated accom, but was just as bad. The pool area was lovely and the kids entertainment was great; just a shame about the rooms. Tour Operator: Airtours

puerto rico is a lovely resort, the first thing that will strike you is the cliff top position, the hotel puerto azul is about half way up the cliff but it is right next to a set of stairs leading to one on the beaches and a further 2 minutes walk will take you to the main variety of shops, bars and resturants. the hotel is situated half way up the cliff and about a minute up the hill is a small variety of shops and a few bars if you want a quieter night!! i would recommend visiting port morgan which is about 30 min boat ride away but is well worth seeing .
