We arrived to a lengthy wait in reception at the Galeon Playa for key as the rooms were not ready. When we did get in we found a clean, spacious apartment which was in dire need of refurbishment. The kitchen was almost useless, with only the cooker light to illuminate the food preparation area. Sun beds under shade are all gone by 8.30am, swimming pool is missing tiles and is very slippy when wet (not open until 10am). Snack bar is poor and shuts earlier than the pool does and entertainment consists of a game of volleyball about 3pm for half an hour. Noisy apartments all round with small gangs of teenagers staying up til 3-4am ringing bells etc. Ants everywhere in room (get spray from reception). If you are going soon - good luck, if you thinking of going - wait til refurbished properly (about 2009 at the rate they are going). Not going back (Teguise was nice though!).

Galeon Playa was alrite. Nothing special, at the time we were stayed there was refurbishment going on, which was not said to us! The pool is good although a tad cold at times. Our apartment had cracked tiles, a funny cooker which had its moments, a short supply of hot water as it came from a boiler and to top it off . . . ants! I guess our apartment had not been done up yet. The Staff were very nice. The kids reps were brilliant! I made firm friends with them. The done such a good job with my little cousins. The Galeon Playa is an ideal hotel/apartments for families. There's lots going on thanks to the animation team (Jesus & Robin) who work very hard. There is also a Thomson Kids Club which was very busy and running a rota system some days. The tiles around the swimming pool area get quite slippery when they get wet. Tour Operator: Portland Direct

Very good appartments clean and large. Main pool heated and it was warm. Restaurant has excellent breakfast and evening meal at very low prices: eat as much as want to. Hotel bar is small and evening entertainment not good for adults or older children. However loads of bars and restaurants within 5 to 10 mins walk. Could not fault it. We loved the week we had in April 2006. Lani's restaurant the only let down: poor meal and it cost twice as much. We complained but the manager did not want to know. Do not have the monkfish and lobster paella there: a complete rip off "% Euros and we were still hungry after it. Hardly any edible food on the plate, all empty shells to make it look good.
