We have just returned from a 10 day break at Alcudia Hotel. This hotel is very basic, quite clean although could be cleaner. Not enough staff for the amount of guests. Our room had bunk beds for our 2 children, which was great, but single beds for us even though a double was requested. The food situation was not too good as you were told what time you went for dinner. We were given the 8pm slot, not so good when you have young children. People started queuing from 7.45pm, when you get in and find a table you then have to queue around the hot plate which could some evenings take up to 20mins! This was an issue as the mini disco started every night at 8.30, at which time we were still eating. Food was average most nights but you could usually find something to eat. Breakfast was OK. Although it was the same thing every day, we could fill up on fruit, fresh bread rolls and various buns/cakes. Loads of Germans (mainly pig ignorant) at the start of the holiday. They do not have any manners and push in to reach over and get what they want. Very annoying but don't back down and let them get away with it! The pool area is very small and the sunbeds are really close to each other, you need to be quick putting out your towels as they are taken up very quickly. The baby pool is small but adequate.

Me and my boyfriend have just returned from a week's stay at Alcudia Hotel. Ok, so the pool is slightly small but it is adequate and who is sad enough to spend all day, every day, by the pool when you have the most beautiful beach I have ever seen on your doorstep?! Among plenty of other activities around the island. The rooms were spotlessly clean, we were on the 2nd floor and had a lovely pool view. We did hear bad press about the basement rooms though, so if you do go definitely request a higher floor room. The food was very nice, anyone who left the dining room hungry was no fault but their own! There was plenty of choice and most definitely something for everyone. There are a lot of children around the hotel running around at times but it's an adventure to them, so a little understanding and holiday spirit should see you through that. On a downside, the hotel (in July anyway) was overpopulated with Germans who live up to their rude and ignorant stigma. They were horrible and just dominate and take over all the hotel's facilities, and use the language barrier as an excuse. Having said that, if you stick to your guns and be firm with them you will be fine, they never got violent and we never had a confrontation - it's just frustrating, let alone disrespectful. The weather was beautiful and reached 43 degrees by 11.30 in the morning. This was a heatwave though, usually it's in the mid 30s, which is still more than enough. The staff were very friendly, people in other reviews have criticized the reception staff's ability to communicate but I found if you speak slowly and clearly they understand 100% and are very nice and helpful. I always find gestures can aid a struggling conversation with a foreigner eg. if you're looking for a smoking area, gesture smoking. They have beautiful tapas restaurants in the port of Alcudia which are definitely a must! The hotel is literally a 3min walk from the port and the beach, which is awesome! Also, the old town Alcudia market every Sunday and Tuesday is a must, but make sure you never accept the first price they give you, barter them down and you're sure to get a bargain! We travelled through Thomson and they were a great travel company, the flight and transfers couldn't have gone better if we had tried! All in all, me and my boyfriend had a great holiday and I would definitely recommend it, and I would stay there again.

Reading previous comments we felt very uneasy going to the Alcudia Hotel. We felt lucky, having heard complaints about basement rooms, to have a high-level front view room overlooking the mountains, very pleasant. The food was very varied and nice, but an 8pm sitting is too late. The pool was quite small with very average entertainment. The staff were very helpful and cheerful. Alcudia Port was a relaxing area but with the occasional sewage smell. By the hotel there was a lovely beach and enjoyable walks to the marina, bars and Alcudia town.

Went to the Alcudia Hotel with a clear mind after hearing things about it. It was a basic hotel with everything you need there. we arrived there around 7ish so just in time for dinner which was very basic food but it tasted ok. Was not very much on at night to get involved with went out every night. Had teenagers with us but so! We must have been lucky had a room on the second floor and it was lovely, very clean and the cleaners tidied everyday. We were facing the pool which was not as noisy as I anticipated. The pool was a bit of a downfall you couldn't move for deckchairs and got splashed every 2 seconds as they were too close to the pool also you had to be quick for the loungers (we put our towels out at about 5am lol sneaky ). But even if we never got a lounger the beach was a mere 3 minute walk and that had lots of space. Staff were amazing didn't speak much English but still could have a chat and keeping in contact with them.

we were worried after reading the reviews and had every reason to! I would love to meet the people who write how wonderful this hotel is as they must be used to poor hygiene, poor food, poor entertainment and rudeness although looking at 90% of the guests that would probably be about right! Now where do I start? 1) Bathroom not cleaned once in two weeks! 2) Floor not cleaned once - I even borrowed a brush and did it myself! 3) Maid gave us sheets to make own bed! But only after I asked for them! 4) Pool far far too small for size of hotel 5) Food TERRIBLE nothing for small children except chips every night. Food not covered properly and flies all over the cheese! - yum!!! 6) No choice over dinner times (that is if you do decide to eat in more than once) times 6pm until 8 or 8 until 9.15 . If you get the 8pm time be prepared to queue up for at least 20 mins all up the stairs and into the bar area and then if you have small children you miss the terrible mini disco as it starts at 8.30. My advice is do what we did use other hotel facilities go to sunwing complex ( turn right along the beach) lovely pool facilities for children. Also good entertainment at viva tropic. If at all possible change your hotel now rather than suffer like us.

Just returned from an excellent week in Hotel Alcudia. After reading all the negative comments was dreading the holiday and am pleased to report that we found nothing wrong with the place. All staff were friendly and helpful. Food was plentiful and varied. Remember this hotel is catering for various nationalities. If you are looking for British food go to Blackpool! Hotel was spotlessly clean. Towels changed daily. Another bit of advice...to lighten your luggage don't take beach towels. Beach towels can be hired at the hotel for €10 per towel, can be changed everyday and a full refund is given at the end of the holiday. Enough for that last drink at the airport! Day and evening entertainment is there for anyone who wants to join in. Bar prices are no more expensive than bar prices outside. So all in all an excellent holiday and I would certainly return to this hotel. The hotel's location is excellent - 200 yards to the beach, shops and taxi rank and just a little further for bus stops.

We have just returned from a week at the Hotel Alcudia. After reading reviews before I went was a little worrid about what to expect. We arrived on the Sunday evening - typical Spanish hotel, was given a room in the dreaded basement, if your room no is 1 to 8 refuse it. We complained straight away but there wasn't another room available untill the Tuesday, we then got a first floor room on the road side, rooms basic but reasonably clean. No keetles so take your own if you want to make a cuppa in your room The maid offered to come in every day if wanted, no problems with clean towels, repaced on days when she did come in on other days just ask. Take note people with limited mobilty: the restaurant is down 2 flights of staires no lifts to resturant. The meals were buffet, two sittings 6.30pm & 8.00pm, no choice as to which sitting, food basic, bland but plentyful. Big choice at both breakfast & dinner. There was entertainment every night but never bothered; if your on the 2nd sitting there was no space left anyway by time you add eaten. The pool area was small, this was the main complaint by everyone. Even last week you had to fight to get a bed. The beach is a better bet, lovely shallow calm bay with no big waves if you have little ones. It seemed fairly quiet around the resort, could have been time of year (Oct) not much for teenagers to do unless you went into Alcudia itself which is a 20 min walk along a well light flat promenade. A taxi is 4/5 euros. Alcudia old town is a 15/20 min walk - well worth a look at if you want a quiet wander, but dont go on Sunday or Tuesday (market days). All in all for the price we paid not bad for a quick cheap week away although if I had paid the full tour company's price wouldnt have been as impressed. Go to Alcudia Hotel with a open mind and form your own opinion. Oh! the Alcudia Hotel is in an execellent location for the beach, which is 2/3 min away, 5 at most if you only have little legs!!!

Arrived at the Hotel Alcudia, my room was on the basement, the room was damp with a horrible smell, took 2 days to get other room, which was slightly better, the bathroom was not very clean, mold arround the tiles, toilet not cleaned properly, the meal time was also a problem they have 2 sittings one at 6.30 or 8pm, you have no say in what time you prefer and i was given the 8pm sitting which didnt suit me as i had kids that were starving buy this time, asked if i could go to the earlier sitting and explained why and they said i would have to go onto a list and wait until a space came available, which i did and 4 days into my 7 days holiday i was changed on to the earlier sitting, the food was okay nothing to great, the entertainment was very good apart from 1 night, alcudia itself dosent have much to offer all the shops sell the same as the next, the location of the Alcudia Hotel was fine pretty central, apart from these issues i did enjoy my holidays as i met alot of nice people at the Alcudia hotel and had many laughs, oh and take plenty of mosquito repelent as this was a big problem never experience the bites as bad as i did there and so did many other people, take plug ins for the room also spray/cream for the body.

Returned from the Hotel Alcudia but would not return. Read the reviews prior to departure and was worried. The rooms are basic. Small and not kept clean. Our room was not swept or the toilets, sink or bath cleaned at all in two weeks!! The beds were sort of tidied up. Linen only changed twice in 2 weeks! Towels are changed but only if you leave them on the floor. The view is either overlooking the pool (noisy) or the road (very noisy)!! The food is good but get to breakfast early or the tables are gone!! The kids liked the choice and the evening entertainment is also good. The swimming pool is a joke, too small and cold. The sea is warmer!! Staff are friendly drinks are cheap in the hotel. PS. If it's not noisy outside, the air conditioning will keep you awake - it's noisy!!

Just got back from Alcudia. I love the place been there 3 times, I wouldnt go back to the Alcudia Hotel though, the room was pokey, no kettle (should have brought my own) the bathroom was a bit grubby but got clean towels every day, beds where made everyday, but how I wish they had left a brush and pan so we could have swept up. The cleaner never once touched the floors. We had a hard time getting served at the bar the staff didnt understand English very well and where realy slow, the pool too small for size of hotel. Oh and the air conditioning in our room well thats another story! Breakfast was horrible but dinner was pretty good lots of choice, the entertainment was horrendous, they had a parrot show on one night some poor kids had to miss it because that was the time when they had to go for there tea. Alcudia itself is a family friendly island, lovely beaches plenty of shops bars etc, Dreamers Bar great one of a few bars that dont shut at 12 oclock, if you want a holiday that keeps you out all night this is not the place to go, but for families brilliant.

Served a purpose, what do you want from a hotel room? It's somewhere to satisfy the wife and doss down, you need to get your towels down pronto because the pool area is a little 'cramped' (had to throw some Jerry towels in the pool, they don't like it up em!) Food was good, kids liked the choice and the fact they could try everything.

We booked the Hotel Alcudia at the last minute - 2 days before leaving. The package only cost £1200 for 2 adults and 1 child half board for 2 weeks in August. If I had paid full price I would have been very disappointed, but considering what we paid it was bearable. The hotel rooms were cleaned daily but only not that well. The room was very small, 2 adults and 1 child in one room with no room to swing a cat. The bathroom old and shabby, and dirty. We were told there would be a view from the room ... but we were just overlooked another apartment block and a busy road and could hear the dustmen at 1am each morning. There was a small balcony but there was only room for two on it. The hotel pool was tiny and sunbeds were a hot commodity and crammed up against each other. The staff were helpful and cheerful and the breakfast was good with a choice of cooked for fruit and cereal. The evening meals were not so nice: a mishmash of dishes which are often heated up from the night before. The salad bar however is very good. We paid to eat out a few times and this the Alcudia hotel has put me off half-board forever. The beach was nearby and was very pretty and the sea was clear, but did sometimes smell of sewerage. Overall, Alcudia was a good resort with lots of bars and shops. We recommend the Comics Bar and the Banana Shopping Centre. Tour Operator: Direct Holidays

The port of Alcudia was quiet a pleasant place for a family break. However hotel Alcudia was not so pleasant, the rooms were very small and cramped and the bunk beds that had been squeezed into ours for our two children prevented us from opening the balcony door. The pool was also very cramped with stacked sunbeds, not very child friendly. If you like good food and entertainment I would jump in a taxi and find some elsewhere. If there is a positive to come from the holiday, it was that the staff were very friendly and the hotel was well located to the port.
