Hotel was awful
the Condesa de la Bahia is in a lovely location right on the beach which is stunning. Unfortunately we can't say the same for the hotel itself. The furnishings are tired and in need of replacement, the bed linen filthy, towels filthy and although they say they change towels every 2nd day they don't change them at all during your stay. Floor is filthy and there are bugs in the beds. We were all bitten more in bed at night than anytime during the day. Security is non-exsistant. Knock on any door if the maids are there they let you in without question. The food was appauling, poor selection at breakfast, two selections at dinner which were either burnt or half cooked chips and burgers or what they called pig stew that was actually nothing but pigs trotters, bones and onions. Be warned: rooms 200, 210a, 342, 344, 346 and others in that extreme part of the hotel stink, there is damp mould on the ceilings when we asked to be moved all they did was paint over the ceiling without advising when you went out. These rooms also look over the hotel "tip" broken chairs, tables, rubble, etc what a fetching view for your holiday. Alcudia itself is great. Tons for the kids and adults alike if you know where to look. €5 to Belleview which I recommend, everything there from street artists, fun pubs and restaurants to go carts and amusements for the kids. And do visit the port, it's stunning as is the old town of Alcudia. Visit Smiths bar, warm friendly staff, great menu and nightly quiz/bingo and more.

We have just returned from two weeks staying at the Condessa de la Bahia and I must say that we were really impressed with the Hotel and facilities. We have two children - a five year old boy and a two year old girl. There were plenty of activities for the children. The evening entertainment was very good and they had a children’s disco for one hour each evening. To get a sun lounger near the pool meant getting down to the pool at about 0800am and “towelling your space but that wasn’t a problem The swimming pool was great and the beach was right next to the hotel. The food was really impressive. Very high quality. For a three star hotel I can’t rate this hotel highly enough High Points for the hotel are Food – Exceptionally good. Varied choice every day. Staff – Especially the entertainment team. Worked very hard and included everyone Pool – Very nicely laid out and safe for the children Entertainment – My son really enjoyed kids zone which ran 10:00 – 12:00 most days. Kids disco very good 2030 every night. Various other activities for adults including Beach Volley, Archery, Rifle Shooting to name a few There were not any real low points but I have included points that could have been better Laundry – Expensive and clothes not really washed properly Will definitely return to this hotel should when we go again to Majorca sometime in the future Tour Operator: Thomson

Just returned from the Condesa de la Bahia hotel, all the staff were very friendly, the rooms were nice i cannot understand how the review said that the room 265 smelt damp as we stayed in that room, the only thing I found funny was standing on my balcony at 7am and watching all the people running for the sunbeds, for the week we was there we could not get round by the pool, but then the beach was lovely, the food was mostly the same every night, other than that we enjoyed our stay at the Condesa and would recomend it for familys as the entertainment for children is very good, also the adult entertainment was all right,I hope you find this helpful and enjoy your holiday at the Condesa de la Bahia. Hi, I've just returned from a 2 wk stay. We previously came in June 2004 so knew what to expect, except we were worried about the situation of the room, and the weather. We was very dissapointed by our room, no.265, As soon as we went in we could smell the damp and the ceiling and walls near the door had black mould. (I dont think the sun ever gets round the front side). Having a 5 yr old we obviously wanted to move, and I'm happy to say this problem was rectified by a wonderful Thompson rep Aisha. We moved to room 347 overlooking the mountains with a larger bathroom and balcony. The maids come in the morning between 8.30-12, so be warned! Dont think they did that much tho apart from make the beds. The hotel food was pretty much as i remembered it, the usual fry up, with rolls cheese and hams, cereal and fruit, and the evening meal a mix of meats, rice or pasta, soup and salad,oh and chips of course! with birthday type cakes, and moose for dessert. All in all we were pretty well fed and enjoyed the food. There were weekly spanish and majorcan themed nights which were wonderful. There was an option of AI also. The hotel cafe serves toasted sandwiches and baguettes, and burgers etc, with chips, the staff thereare on you as soon as you sit down, but very helpful and friendly, also the staff in the restaurant are very pleasent too, esp the greeter on the door. We didnt use the pool as it was too cold and my daughter got conjunctavitus last yr from it! But who need to when there is a beach as wonderful as the one a few steps away. It is very shallow for about 150 m and still warm in Oct!.. The weather was a lottery tho. The 1st 2 days were hot and sunny, then the thunder came and the temp dropped with 4 days of overcast skys, light to heavy showers. Dont think we'll be coming back this time of yr as there is nothing to do when rainy expect stay in the room or venture into the public area which were full of germans who looked at us as if we were aliens! it almost bordered on intimidating! The hotel itself is about 30 yrs old and to be honest it looks it, especially the rooms. If they are going to keep their customers they should seriously give it a lick of paint and new carpets. They should also sort out the leaking roof, again in reception round the front side, which probably explains why the rooms are damp there! Didnt see much of the entertainment as my daughter had had enough by 10pm, when the main act came on - a bit too late, but i think there was somehting different on every night, sometimes inside if it was raining which made the hotel quite claustraphobic. We had a wonderful trip with Thompson to Marine land, the dolphin park and my daughter got picked out the crowd to sit in a boat and be pulled round the pool by 4 dolphins which really made the holiday. Have to mention the fact that they give a guided tour there and back for a bit of culture, bit of a bonus!..The mountain tour sounded quite appealing too! maybe next time! All in all, the hotel is what you expect of a 3 star expect the rooms should be updated. May go back but there are a few better looking hotels in area that are begging for our custom! The hotel is right on the beach: only 3 steps to reach it. Volley ball is played on the beach with the reps; what a laugh we had with them, so friendly. So much entertainment all day long for all ages including ages from 12 upwards: a lot of hotels seem to forget this age group. The entertainment in the evening was excellent, you dont need to leave the hotel, it has everything. The food was excellent, meals for children, a Spanish night theme in the restaurant was excellent. Best paella ever. The hotel rooms were kept lovely and clean, kettles to hire, fridges, everything you need this hotel has it. Can't wait to go back there next year hopefully. Tour Operator: Thompson

This hotel is right on the beach. It was fairly busy till the Thursday when it got VERY busy. It's very family orientated, but not so much that if you don't have a family that it would spoil it for you. There is entertainment provided every night. There is football on a big screen for the men, and an animated movie at 5 supposed to be for the children, but I enjoyed them too. There is plenty to occupy the children as the entertainment keeps them occupied leaving you with free time. The rooms are basic, but very clean and tidy. There is a balcony with table and chairs supplied. Although the room is basic, you can hire things like kettle, safe, fridge, buggies etc. The food however is another thing. Absolutely wonderful! Such a selection from salads, soups to cooked. It changes every day. I will point out that it is a buffet. The restaurant was always busy. I have truly enjoyed my stay and the weather was very good. The hotel was packed by the time we left, and I like to think that most are returning guests. I know that I would! Tour Operator: thomson
