I stayed here for a night in March 2009 and wished I had stayed longer. It is the perfect place to stay if wanting to be near Lake Manyara, Engaruka and learn about the Maasai culture without costing you a fortune to stay a few days. Barbara, who built the camp, is a beautiful gentle lady who understands tourists expectations and delivers what they want. She has lived in Tanzania for forty years and has a wonderful relationship with and respect for the local Maasai people. The camp is spotlessly clean and the food good. I hope to return one day.

Ol Mesera Tented Camp is the best!!
I stayed at Ol Mesera Tented Camp (Ngorongoro) in July 2008 and I wish I could have stayed longer. Definitely stay here, especially if you are planning a safari. It is very clean and hospitable. After travelling around Tanzania for weeks, this place was a paradise. You truly are in the African bush. The view is amazing and the staff is extremely accommodating. It is around the corner from Lake Manyara National Park, which is a great place to do a safari and Ngorongoro is really close too. Basically Mtu wa Mbu is the last town before all the parks, so Ol Mesera is the perfect place to stay. The beds and bathrooms were really nice and there was HOT water! I can't wait until I go back because it was amazing.
Peaceful and beautiful scenery in the middle of the African wild - Andreas J. Hansen. Date of travel: May 2007

If you want to have a relaxed day and just breathe in the atmosphere of the African bush then you should definitely visit this camp. Barbara who started it is a very friendly and knowledgable pioneer in Tanzania from former Jugoslavia. She speaks many languages and can help you with anything you might want, also arranging safaris and trips in the area.
