In October 2006 my wife, Heather, & I were fortunate enough to travel to the beautiful country of Tanzania. We used a South African tour company who arranged everything for us. They use the services of Leopart Tours, a Tanzanian tour operator. We spent 5 days on safari visiting Lake Manyara, the Serengeti and Ngorongoro National Parks. It was an amazing experience and we managed to see the big 5 as well as going on a balloon trip over the Serengeti. We then travelled to Zanzibar, we spent 2 nights at the Chavda Hotel in Stonetown (great hotel)and then travelled up to the Nungwi Village Beach Resort on the north coast where we spent a very relaxing 8 days before returning to South Africa. We can highly recommend Tanzania as an affordable African destination. The Tanzanians are very friendly and helpful people. I am planning on climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in September 2007 again using the services of Destination Africa Tours.

The accomodation in the Safari lodges was excellent with fantastic views over the parks. We stayed in the Serena lodges in Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro, both of which I would highly recommend!
We also had 3 nights Luxury mobile Camp in the Serengeti which was a great experience being so close to the animals with the luxury of a proper bed, showers, toilet and our own chef managing to put together delicious 3 course meals and make fresh bread daily with only a fire and a small camping stove.
