Breezes is quite a large hotel, but it doesnt seem so - it has a small, boutiquee feel to it with personal service and easy-going atmosphere. We spent a few days here after a night in Stonetown, Zanzibar (interesting but one night is enough) and before a trip to the Seringeti. The rooms are wonderfully decorated with local wooden furniture, linen sheets, pillows and lovely Indian silks. The food is first class - mostly locally caught seafood with wine imported from South Africa. Breezes Beach Club sits on an long, empty, white sand beach on the east coast of Zanzibar and you look out onto a gleaming turquoise sea. Note that you can't swim at low tide and need to be careful of sea urchins! Diving is available for those who want - as it deep sea fishing. In all, I'd thoroughly recommend Breezes Beach Club and will visit again if we can. I have been to the Maldives, Mauritius and Seychelles and prefer Zanzibar to all of them. Just remember to take US dollars in cash - you need $80 for arrival and departure tax and credit cards often incur a 10% surcharge.
