You get to Emerson and Green via a few very run down back streets, which were once lined with fine merchants houses most of which are now falling down. The hotel is stylishly done up – but still missing a few touches you’d expect from an expensive hotel – such as nice linen and decent matresses. Try to get a room on the top floor, they are much nicer and have views over the rooftops. The rooftop bar has a great atmosphere and is a good place for a drink, though food is not great.
