The Four Seasons Resort is a magnificent property. It is a bit expensive considering Thai prices in Bangkok and Thailand in general, but not compared to other five star resorts around the world. What you get is remarkable service (the entire staff appeared to have memorized my and my wifes names prior to arrival) and the absolutely best food in the area. While there are multiple restaurants in Chiang Mai...the Thai food at the hotel is quite a grade above.
You may arrange tours thru the Four Seasons hotel or save about fifty per cent by speaking with the agency some fifty yards outside the compound.
We spent an entire day just lounging around the property it was so inviting. This is quite unusual for my wife who likes to keep moving.
The only real third rate aspect to the Four Seasons Resort is that it charges twelve dollars a day for internet access... this is free in every other major hotel that I have visited..and considering the absence of cost to the hotel, it should be free here. There are lots of other revenue sources that can be tapped.
