Seclusion amid palm trees - Mark & Kay Hirst. Date of travel: Sep 2006
With its private beech and hill side position the Cape Panwa Hotel provides seclusion amid the palm trees on the holiday island of Phuket. I am loath to recommend this place as we want it to ourselves but we will share it with you when we are not there. We booked an internet bargain £752.00 two weeks B/B flying Manchester to Bangkok via Abu Dhabi and then on to Phuket. This was our third visit to this hotel and the guest photo album bears tribute to clients that have returned over 20 times. A point of note is that notables like Leonardo D'Caprio and Elizabeth Taylor have stayed here and the the Thai Princess is a regular guest. The staff are awesome and the rooms are amazing, all with sea views even if some are hindered by the palm trees. The hotel boasts at least 5 resturants including a beach grill, an Italian and a superb High cuisine establishment , The top of the Reef. There are three little independent resurants outside the hotel where for example you can have 2 meals, starters and maincourses plus G+t and beers for £14 all up. Phuket town is a £8 taxi ride away but this is a return fare and the driver will wait outside while you dine or shop or both for as long as it takes. "Naturels" is my top tip although "The Phuket view" "lemongrass" and "Annas" will delight. Patong down the road is the Blackpool of Phuket with bars, resurants, ladyboys, tailors and a modacum of sleeze. Dont let me put you off it is an experience and folks go back for more. Back at the hotel you can chill out "The Light House" until the last customer leave. So quiet sun and sand linked to great sights, eats and alround top experiance Check out the internet for phots of this hotel as I cannot upload my pictures on this computer. Well worth a visit
