Antonella, the owner of The Nest was very hospitable, we arrived late at night and she was most accommodating, the rooms were always clean and breezy, the only downside was because of high location on hill, road noises were louder. When cars passed on the road below, the sound travelled up and it was loud. The actual road itself to get to the apartment is not so good, it needs paving as its very rough with loose gravel. To be comfortable, a 4X4 vehicle should be used.
Apart from that everything else was excellent, the stunning views of the Bucco reef, the natural environment with fruit and other trees and magnificent hillside and vegetation views were breathtaking. The birds singing in those trees added to the atmosphere making it totally relaxing. The Nest is located in the Buccoo area and its quite different from the very busy and hectic areas of Crown Point and Bon Accord where I usually stay. Its definitely worth visiting, for a refreshing change of scenery.

Mirko an Italian who runs the Ciao Cafe in Scarborough took us to the apartment it was very clean, well equipped - even the beds had nets over them to keep out the insects, it has a beautiful view of the reef, The apartment was very quiet and getting to town was easy costing just $5.00 TT per person. Juliette who looks after the house and Albert the Gardener were excellent. They even picked fruit and Albert took us to the taxi stop. I would definitely use and recommend it . The beach is really only a 15 to 20 min walk but worth it. Tour Operator: www.SimplyTobago.com

We stayed 12 nights at the Nest in March 2006.
The owner, Antonella, wasn't there (she's now moved back to Italy) but left us in the capable hands of Mirko, also Italian, who runs the Ciao Cafe in Scarborough (do go there - the home-made ice cream is to die for!).
The apartment was absolutely gorgeous and spotlessly clean - maintained by Juliette and Albert the Gardener. Very spacious too, with TV (some satellite channels) and it was well equipped for cooking etc. with a huge fridge.
The view from the balcony is stunning. The balcony itself was large, overlooking a beautiful garden and equipped with rocking deck chairs.
The only downside was the noise - not something you'd expect! We were expecting it to be really secluded, which it kind of is, but it's on top of a small hill beside a road, which, whilst not that busy, is quite noisey with cars and trucks revving to get up the hill. Also, Mirko (or his flat-mate) had 2 dogs who barked a lot. They barked almost like clock-work at around 1am every night and woke us up early in the morning several times too. Take earplugs!
The walk to the nearest beach is about 15 mins. Seems like longer the first time you do it, but it's really not that bad - all on the flat. You have Grange Beach and Mount Irvine Beach within easy walking distance, and both are a zillion times nicer (and less crowded) than Pigeon Point or Store Bay.
In terms of places to eat, there are a few within walking distance, but by that I mean 20 mins or so along a poorly-lit main road. There is one place right across the road, Mot Mot Restaurant, which is as good as most of the others - very quiet but friendly. There were only 4 places we ate that I would really rate at all - the rest being terribly overpriced for what they offered. Those 4 were Upstairs at Melange on Shirvan Road, Surfers Rest at Mount Irvine Beach, the food huts at Store Bay and Patinos on Shirvan Road. We were told that the Blue Crab in Scarborough was really good, but we never found it!
We had a car for half the time we were there (arranged on our behalf by Mirko at the Nest, and very cheap), but it's not essential. The roads are shockingly bad once you get out of the main Scarboro' / Crown Point areas anyway! You can easily get a ride in any direction from Buccoo Junction, just 3-5 mins walk from the Nest.
