We have been to Tunisia 7 times and thoroughly enjoyed our holidays. This year 19th May 2010 we went to the Mahaba Hotel, (not the Mahaba Club or the Mahaba Beach which are sister hotels on the same site). Initially it seemed like most we have been to, the room was basic but clean. The problem was that the evening entertainment was in the lounge area next to main reception therefore there was no quiet area to sit. The air conditioning wasn't on (doesn't go on until 9th June) not shown in brochure. Noisy with more Russian and Checs shouting. Even though all inclusive you had to queue to have your wrist bar code scanned to get drinks, food, even sun loungers. The food was very basic and bland, not much variety chips for every meal, pancake breakfast only. It was so boring that a lot of English people including ourselves ate out at a local steak house, what a difference. Will not go back to this hotel.

I have been twice to the Hotel Marhaba in Sousse and am returning in November. This hotel I have always found to be spotless, the people are warm and friendly, they can't do enough for you. Both times I have come away feeling as if I am leaving old friends behind. It's right on the beach, just a couple of minutes walk. We have to remember these people work for next to nothing, the wages are very poor but the service and happy atmosphere they create is fantastic. Recommend to anyone.

When we arrived at the Hotel Marhaba and we thought it looked very nice. The staff were very rude and never said please or thank you, we felt uneasy, can't knock the pool attendants who could not do enough for you, they were the only ones who were helpful. When we got to the room we were shocked by the state of the landing, paint and dirt all over the carpets, holes in the curtains, we were pretty shocked and it wasn't very nice, cleaners came to your room even before you woke up but they were polite. One point I must add, everyone wants to be tipped but I was in for a shock in the airport when I returned home, when going through customs a guard made me empty my pockets, I took out a bag with about 600 Euros in it and the guard started to quiz me why I had this money. I stated it's what I was bringing home, he then said give me one of your notes and then go through. I didn't want to argue and gave him 10 Euros and went through, even the duty free shop searched you whether you had bought something or not, really intimidating.

Went half board to the Merhaba hotel, lovely grounds and pool area, right on the beach front.

Very nice hotel, rooms reasonable size, and very clean, in fact the whole hotel is spotlessly clean, Staff at Tej Marhaba Hotel are very helpful, friendly and polite, 1 indoor pool with little islands in pool with palm trees, changing area loads of cumfy seats, outdoor pool huge, plenty of sunbeds for everyone, near to private beach area again spotless bar on beach for food and drinks. Food bloody dreadful, we were half board, so would recommend just go bed and breakfast, and eat out. Weather superb.
