Yes the hotel was very basic in its furnishings, but what do you want for 70 quid a week? The plumbing was not as good at the UK however it is like this in all the Turkish resorts as I have visited a few and it is like this at every one so therefore not the hotels fault. The staff were unbelievably helpful and friendly, upon arriving at 4am, the receptionist carried my suitcase up the stairs and made sure we were happy with our room. For the rest of the stay the staff could not be any more friendly, the receptionist greeted you every morning as did the rest of the staff. Mrs Budak was a joker and liked to mess around creating a fun atmosphere at the bar and pool area. It was a small pool area however very friendly, all the people staying were friends with one another and the staff acted more like close friends than anything. A turkish night happened every fornight and was a funny experience, the belly dancer got everyone up dancing and it was a hilarious experience. The bar man, Engin, was by far the most friendly member of staff and did anything to help you out, the bar was supposed to close at 2am however on a lot of occasions it would stay open as late as 5am as Engin only closed when the last customer left, he was a great laugh and let you try a bit of the drink before you actually paid for it. Very cheap, water was 1 turkish leera, so about 30p however the supermarket was cheaper. There were a lot of trips provided if you talked to your rep at a low cost price. You were not allowed to bring your own food into the hotel however it was very easy to hide and everyone brought in their own. Overall i would definitely go back to this hotel and I would reccommend it to a friend.

Me & my partner visited the Budak Hotel for 2 weeks in June 2009. As it was a 2* hotel we were pleasantly surprised by how clean, tidy and lovely the hotel was. Very family orientated but also good for young couples as the nightlife is amazing. The barmen & waiters were very pleasant & helpful when needed. I would advise anybody to stay here, cheap and definitely cheerful! We have booked to go back in September.

Our experience of the Budak Hotel
This was our first holiday in Altinkum although we have been to Turkey plenty of times before. We booked our holiday fairly last minute through our own travel consultant, who put together the package for us. We were told that the hotel was a small family run hotel - Budak Hotel, in a quiet residential area close to shops, restaurants, town centre and beach. We were not disappointed with the holiday at all. It is a 2* hotel which we knew would be basic but it was very clean, friendly and the staff were friendly enough although not all of them spoke very good English. The pool was a very welcome place to cool down after taking in the sun on the many free sunbeds provided. Breakfast was plentiful, typically Turkish as expected but you could purchase full English if you preferred it. No cider behind the bar was the only drawback for me! We liked Altinkum as a resort but we tended to stay on the harbour side. The weather was glorious, so we got in plenty of swimming, sunbathing and relaxing. We certainly were happy with the hotel and would be happy to return again asap!!!!!
