Magnific hotel was very good - Joe Conneely. Date of travel: Jul 2007
we haved stayed in Magnific Hotel three times. The rooms are ok for sleeping in. We stayed bed and breakfast basis as there are plenty of places to eat out in Gumbet and Bodrum. The hotel was clean and our room was cleaned daily overall very good. I would recommend Smilely's Bar for a good laugh. Going back again next year.

Not so Magnific - Sue o'D. Date of travel: Nov 1999
Stayed for two weeks in Hotel Magnific with my boyfriend.
I would not recommend it, although the location is good, right on the beach and in the centre of Gumbet.
The rooms are really tiny and very basic. The shower didn't work and the toilets don't flush properly.
But mainly it was the standard of food served in the hotel restaurant that not only bothered me but nearly cut my life short.
On the first day I nearly swallowed a piece of glass that had been lodged somehow in my pizza. Not only did I not receive an apology from any of the staff but they actually tried to charge me for it, at which point I had to call for the manager who shrugged off the issue saying I wouldn't be charged but failed to apologise at all.
I stopped eating the food entirely when I found a long black hair growing out of the cheese I had with breakfast one morning and stopped drinking anything when I finished a mug of coke only to find about an inch of sand at the bottom of the glass.
The reception staff left much to be desired, usually looking annoyed when I disturbed them from what appeared to be personal phone calls, and never really understanding what I was asking anyway. The Sunworld reps were very friendly and helpful.
The resort of Gumbet was what I expected, a lot of shabby bars and restaurants but good nights can be had. Food and drink is quite cheap but really you're just getting what you pay for.
