We arrived at hanoi bus station at 7.30 am , to a man saying he will pay half of our taxi fair to his hotel. at thirst we refused and wondered of to try and just catch a taxi out of the big rush of traffic. after 10 odd miniutes the man reapered and me and my friend decided to take the taxi with him on tearms he would take us to the old quarter area where his hotel was , where we would look at his rooms and then decide if we were staying there. the terms were you pay 40000 vnd!!! witch is 2dollars.. And even if you decide not to stay at his hotel still 2dollars taxi ride!!! Well we got there and he then told us they do not have a room untill a hour later. so i said pollitly im going to go and look at other places as wed been on a 14hour bus journey from hue and wanted to get chaked into somwhere asap.. i took a look around and yes to be fair this hotel was cheap.. but it was not ready and we could not wait any longer. so i found a hotel and we went to get our bags and leave . then to this aggresive man appear and ask us where were going so we told him and he said he wanted the taxi fair.. witch i had already paid then taxi driver.. then for the agressive man to turn really nasty on us and demand 40000vnd .as we was not staying in his hotel.. there is obviously a conection with the taxi drivers!!! i refused to give him anymore of our money.. then for him to turn round and scream in my face that he was calling the police . i just stood there and let him have his rant. then for him to shout at me that if i moved a step furter he was going to kill me.. he told me to get of his steps outside his hotel.. then told me i was a dead girl who is crazy. my friend tried to get a word in but he told her to fuck of and be quiet!! we ended up paying him as we was to scared to walk away.. this should not be aloud to happen any more. its a discrace and puts a real downer at the end of my trip. we have a day trip to halong way and then of to thailand for 3 weeks before returning back to the uk after our 10months around the world trip. this was by far the worst experience of my life ...

The only good point about Helizabeth Hotel may be the price, but you have what you pay for. Staff is impolite and they absolutely whant you to buy their trip, their taxi or anything like this. Breakfast is included but is so bad you will need to go elsewhere after if, if you dare going into the kitchen by yourself in order to take it. Kitchen looks like a trash bin and everything except the hall in the Hotel need a good cleaning, from top to bottom, including the bed sheets. If you realy want to go in holliday theyre, you will have to prepare yourself.

Do NOT stay at Elizabeth Ha Noi Hotel! Even if you wouldn't, I think that might be an interesting story that will warn you what may happen in Hanoi. First of all, I'm not overreacting or agressive person by no means. I work with tourist at home, I've seen a lot, I'm calm. Right now I'm finishing my round the world trip- 10 months and 17 countries already. I had never experience anything like I just had. We arrive to Hanoi on the bus from Hue. At the station man told us that he can take us to his hotel. Good location, ok price, we can see. Room was nice, staff quite friendly and basically everything was ok. One guy was hustling me to book a trip to Halong bay with him, but that happens everywhere so I didn't care. I told him I will see other places and decide. I've booked elsewhere. I come back to the hotel the night before we where supposed to leave. So you want to book the trip to Halong Bay? -No thank you, I've already booked. But can we leave the luggage at your place during our trip? (we wanted to stay there for one night once we come back) - No you can't you stupid f**k! check out. I didn't even know what to say for few seconds, than I asked him what he just said. Describing all the dialogue might be boring but he said "I want you to check out right now" There was many of them aggresive towards me so fight was kind of out of the question. (We, Polish people have a good history of fighting when there is no chance for anything, but I guess I'm not like that). I wanted to talk to manager, they didn't want to contact me with him. Eventually they did and he wasn't much of a help. We packed our bags and wanted to check out. They wanted me to pay also for the night that was coming (I don't think I should pay for anything there, but certainly not for that one). They had our passports. The bad guy kept insulting me and rest didn't react. Eventually he also said "I do't f*** you, I F** your girlfriend!" (I promise this is exactly what he said). I tried to call the tourist administration, but it was sunday evening and no one answered the phone. I went to the police. The hotel staff kept following me. Police didn't speak any English, the bad guys were my translators so police kicked me out after few minutes of conversation I couldn't understand. I paid everything and left no understanding what so ever. I really don't know what to do, I don't think reporting it will change much (I will do it nevertheless). I don't expect any replies, just keep this story in mind and be careful.

I declined as I’d already booked a trip, but asked if I could leave my luggage at the hotel during the trip, as I would be staying there later that day. The response was shocking. I got sworn at so badly that I didn’t know how to respond for a few seconds. I couldn’t believe what was said. I said I wanted to check out immediately and I wanted to talk to the manager. Eventually they got the manager and he wasn't much of a help. We packed our bags and wanted to check out. They wanted me to pay for that night even though I wasn’t going to stay there. The bad guy kept swearing at me and insulting me and the few other admin guys hanging around didn't even react. Finally they started really insulting my girlfriend. I tried to call the tourist administration, but it was Sunday evening and no one answered the phone. I went to the police. The hotel staff kept following me.
