Fun In Jamaica - Lou & Anne. Date of travel: Aug 2009
If you want a memorable vacation, then Hedonism 3 is the place to go. Once you arrive you will not need to go out of the resort unless you want to go to a few tourist places like Dunn's River falls or horseback riding. Since you are on a well protected resort property you do not have to worry about all the reports of a crime ridden country. Most of the crime is in the bad neighborhoods of Kingston and don't affect the resort areas.

I did not see anything to rave about - Angela. Date of travel: Apr 2009
I grew up in another West Indian Island and I was not too impressed with Jamaica. I stayed in a Montego Bay resort on my first visit and on my second visit in Runaway Bay. I did not like how the vendors hustled people. I know that they have to make a living but the island where I am you are not going to find a lot of people behaving like that because the economy is much better and people do not have to depend on tourism. I also did not like how inflated the prices were in all the resort areas. I guess there is a big difference between an island that depends on tourism and the money made goes out of the country and an island that produces oil and is very industrialized and the money stays in the country. I really did not see much to marvel about. I know that there are some nice spots like the Dunn's River Falls and some other attractions, but I have been to other West Indian Islands and I enjoyed them much better than Jamaica. I wish that the government would provide free high school education to children in order to help raise the literacy rate of the country, improve the living conditions for many people and create many more jobs that is not only geared to tourism, this may help eliminate some of the crime. After all, there is another side of Jamaica where people are well educated and are professionals in their own right - they do have one of the best universities in the world, The University of the West Indies – have very good jobs, live in beautiful neighbourhoods but the percentage is too low for such a large island.

Dunn's River Falls - Omar Davis. Date of travel: Jan 2008
World famous Dunn's River Falls is but one of the many attractions found in and around Ocho Rios, but without a doubt the best known. Made famous by such movies such as Cocktail, Dunn's River Falls is a photographers dream... Hundreds of people each day climb the falls with the help of experienced guides. Others choose to splash around in the ice cold crystal clear pools of the falls or swim in the ocean at the base of the falls. While there, spend some time on the Beach, it is one of the best around.

Dolphin Cove - beware - Susan. Date of travel: Sep 2006
At Dolphin Cove, they dont have lockers for visitors to put their possessions in, just open cubby holes. For our encounter, we were taken to the pool on the opposite side from where we left our belongings, completely out of view. We were told our possessions were safe as only the staff had access to this area. When I went to purchase my photos, I had $30-$40 less than I thought (not sure exactly what was in my wallet, but definitely more than $25). Not being sure, I didn't raise any issue. But when I got back to my room and saw the cash left in my safe, I realized that money was skimmed from my wallet. Very clever, if I was robbed completely, I would have made an issue right then and there.

Jamaica: Worst place ever - Jason. Date of travel: Jul 2006
I absolutely hated Jamaica. There were poor people EVERYWHERE coming up to you and literally asking for money. Prices in stores were overpriced... Police walking around with heavy flak jackets and high powered rifles which to me showed that Jamaica was not safe. There were no good parts to being in Jamaica. Every commercial I see about the country is a lie.

There are better places to visit - Chris. Date of travel: Apr 2006
Jamiaca is a poor country, that is to be expected but I found the poor people in the Dominican to be much nicer. Some people were nice but many were rude, especailly in the airport.. We were lied to daily at our hotel.. I don't like Jamiaca and won't go back.. there are too many other places to visit. Tour Operator: hotels.com

Jamaica is a GREAT affordable vacation spot - Jack Strong. Date of travel: Apr 2006
Plan to do plenty of walking and bring sun block and cool breezy clothing. This is a fabulous time for anyone willing to just get out there and try new things.

Charelea Inn Negril - Dave Selvers. Date of travel: Feb 2006
This will be my 17th year in Jamaica. For the most part people are receptive; yes the poor and the very poor will harass the tourists but all one needs to do is politely refuse them by informing them that the money it took to travel to this island is very hard to come by. Jamaica can mitigate poverty if only the government corruption would end. The foreign aid is mis-allocated to the people who run the island and not the people in need of it. Come see what Columbus discovered on his second journey. Jamaica is truly an island paradise, but if they don't stop the development of large resort chains, that do nothing for the local economy, the spenders such as myself will have to look elsewhere for our fun. Hotel Riu has completely ruined bloody bay in Negril. Out of 5 points I rate Jamaica 3.9. Dave aka Sharktooth.

I love Jamaica. I go there every summer and I am 50% Jamaican and I really enjoy the weather. The travellers who talk trash on there trip just don't have lives because Jamaica's a wonderful place!

I travelled to Jamaica with my family. It is a very lovely island. We were a bit iffy about going as we had heard all sorts of stories, but when we got there we realised they were wrong: the beaches are lovely sandy beaches and the water was warm . We visiited Dunns river falls. It is one of the most magical things I have been to. We walked up the waterfall with a guide you have to be careful at the top of the waterfall; there is a market where the locals do try to sell you things but don't let this put you off. The local markets are a experience to go to as well. Never buy at the first price, always barter !! The weather in May was very warm: it rained a few evenings but not at all through the daytime. The hotel Club Carribean is very well situated on the beach in Runaway bay.
