Mexico
Sleepy mud-built haciendas with dozy locals in ponchos and sombreros lolling outside cantinas in the shadow of a cactus … these are the images of Mexico conjured up in the minds of most cowboy movie fans. Modern Mexico, however, is a country of bustling Caribbean and Pacific seaside holiday resorts, ancient mysterious Mayan and Aztecmore

Inexpensive exotic beach vacation land - John & Veronica Snyder. Date of travel: May 2008
Mexico, Central and South America is the place for vacations. For instance, Venezavela's Isle of Margarite gasoline is only 12 cents a gallon! And you can take an airplane trip to see Angel Falls-fantastic experience. If you go to Cancun you can take side trips to Chicken Itza and see the pyramids or go to Xraret and see Aztec dances & swim in an underground river and later watch a horse show or swim with the dolphins. Puerta Vallarta on the West coast is just something else-a nice quiet place for the family where you can watch the best Mexican Fiesta Show at the Krystal Hotel.
An unfortunate bad point of Mexico - John Snyder. Date of travel: Apr 2008
My spouse and I love Mexico--travel annually for the past 30 years. But the situation at the airports has become a real problem. We know that it is not wise to talk to any of the time share persons milling about, but it is almost impossible to avoid them since all the cabs seem to be in cahoots. We booked airport transportation through Expedia this year only to find that there were numerous time share sellers wearing Expedia logos and we fell into the hands of two especially obnoxious ones. After a long day of flying and at a late hour, I was driving to the point of shouting at them, only to be laughed at. Something needs to be done about this.

For those of you who don't wish to visit the 52nd State of America - Cancun - I can certainly recommend somewhere that is just as beautiful but where you don't pay in US dollars, eat at American chain restaurants and contribute quite so much to the American economy. Its Tulum, about an hours bus ride from Cancun, and while still a tourist destination it is much more relaxed and...well... Mexican. Imagine the same spectacular beaches as Cancun, but instead you are lazing out the front of your thatched roof cabana in a hammock right on the beach, contemplating a dip in the carribean or maybe heading over to the bar for a Dos Equis cervesa or five. If you want a bite to eat, try going into the town because you can buy there the absolute best barbeque chicken I have ever tasted - rubbed in achiote spice and barbequed over hot coals, and cheap as chips because its a local business. Tulum is a part-hippy, part-Mexican paradise for those who want the beaches but not the US dollars, and when we got there instead of staying for the one night we had expected we stayed for one week. Don't forget to walk up the beach a little to visit the Mayan ruins in the most spectacular setting. Tour Operator: independent

This was our honeymoon and our second time to Mexico. We had been the year before and enjoyed it so much that we thought was prefect for this special occasion. As you are driving to your hotel Mexico is very run down, but don't let that put you off, because your hotel will make up for it. Everything was very clean could not fault anything. We stayed at The Royal Decameron Tropical in Puerto Vallarta, it is brilliant, food, people, service, entertainment etc... Would reccommend to this hotel and destination to anyone Tour Operator: first choice

Travelling by bus down the Baja Peninsula was aweful. We kept seeing beautiful beaches and places that looked so interesting through the window but we were trapped on the bus that wasn't going to stop till it reached the next town. Next time I would like to have my own car and explore the area properly. In the bus try to sit as far up front as possible as the toilet is in the back and it stinks - they are very frequently used and you get a disgusting whiff every time the door is opened. And the aircon never works but drips water instead and the windows can't open so you are in for a hot and stuffy journey most of the time. They usually show aweful films in Spanish too which are usually repeated on every bus.

I travelled to Mexico and stayed at the Caribbean Village on an All Inclusive basis. The hotel is about 30 minutes from the airport. The hotel is in a very good position right on the beach front, and close to all the shops and bars. The hotel has 3 bars, 3 a la carte restaurants and 1 buffet restaurant that has a different theme each night for dinner. There is plenty to do in Mexico with a wide variety of excursions. I would definatley reccommend swimming with dolphins, it was a fantastic experience and there are only about 8 people in a group. If booking swimming with dolphins i would strongly reccommend that you book it through your holiday rep as the locals do try and sell these trips, but the environment is not of a very high standard and they have 15+ in a group. The weather was fantastic and the staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. I would definatley reccommend a visit to Mexico. Tour Operator: Thomson
