I started my visit to Norway in the small town of Trondheim. We overnighted there and went out to a lovely restaraunt to sample their local speciality - reindeer, which I have to admit was quite nice. We left the following morning to join a ship called M/S Finnmarken to start our coastal voyaqge. The scenary was fantastic. The ship wasnt like a cruise ship, there was no entertainment on board, this voyage is all about the surroundings. We followed the coast down to Bergen, as the ship carries passengers from one port to another as well as frieght there are several times we went back to land to dock meaning that we were never far from the coast. When we arrived in Bergen, we did our city tour. We visited the home of composer Edvard Grieg and took the funicular railway up to Mount Floyen to take in Panoramic views od the cisty before we had luch at the restaurant at the top of the mountain. We overnighed in bergen and came home. I found norway very nice and would go back again. The people were friendly and i loved walking the maze of noarrow cobbled streets in Bergen. Norway in a Nutshell is a great way to see some of the most beautiful parts of the country and will work out to be the cheapest option. We started in Bergen and ended in Oslo - it is possible to break the journey and take your time, and includes scenic fjord cruises, bus trips and breathtaking train rides - it really is the best summary of Norway you can get.
