Qatar
The emirate of Qatar, sited on a Peninsula in the Persian Gulf, is a wealthy nation with a splendid capital, Doha, known worldwide as the hub of its wide-ranging international airline. Qatar Airways brings visitors to Doha, many on business, in transit or on diplomatic missions, and some who come to holiday in Qatar tomore
Very bad experience with Qatar Airways - Mike Garvin. Date of travel: Apr 2009
I would like to tell users of this website never to fly on Qatar Airways. I originally booked a flight to Delhi and back, one part of which Qatar simply dropped a few days before I was due to fly out. They never contacted me about this as I only learned about it when I phoned their Gatwick number to enquire about an unrelated issue about the flights. As a replacement flight to the one they dropped (Doha to Gatwick), they put in place a flight that was supposed to fly out 11 hours later than the one originally scheduled. The result being that when I landed in Doha, I was denied a hotel room and had to contend with the dreadful food they give to passengers awaiting transfer in the Doha airport. The reason they gave for this is that the original booking I made never included a hotel room as the original transfer time in Doha was less that 8 hours. However, they, out-of-the-blue, canceled this flight and scheduled another one that was 19 hours after I landed in Doha, way over the 8 hours cut-off-point for a hotel!! I tried enquiring about paying for a hotel out of my own pocket, but I was again even denied this information !! The upshot of all this is that I was forced to spend 19 hours staring like a mad thing at the floor of an airport terminal!! I had flown Qatar before this and thought their service was good. However, I, along with numerous friends, work colleagues and relatives to whom I have explained what happened to me, will not use this company ever again after the kind of appalling service I was subjected to. I hope you will agree and can review any flight arrangements you have made now and in the future with this company. Mike Garvin
Nice place! - Steven Swarthout. Date of travel: Apr 2008
The Doha airport is quite comparable to any other modern airport. There is still a lot of construction going on there and throughout Doha. There are tall buildings going up everywhere. I stayed at the Marriott - use Marriott points if you can, because otherwise it is quite expensive. It is just behind the Airport and is thus quite convenient. It is a bit far from downtown but has a great view of the rest of the city when the dust is not blowing. I had an upgraded room that was very large. The bed was very comfortable. Nice place, but $420/night is a bit high. Internet access is expensive. I flew business class on Qatar Air and was extremely satisfied! Very attentive, good food, very nice. The weak $ made some things expensive.
I loved Qatar - Tanaka Fujiri. Date of travel: Jul 2007
I loved Qatar
Contrary to what the other review said, I loved it!. During my trip to Japan I stopped over in Qatar. The airport that I stopped over was large, very clean, and looked like a high class shopping mall in my opinion. I especially liked the 'quiet room' where they had these leather sofas you could lay down and relax in. Everything was smooth and I didn't have any issues. As far as I know, Qatar is building the Middle East's largest Airport which will soon be the centre of Asian transits. I'm looking forward to my own trip to Qatar again! I enjoyed :)
Airport Doha - Flyer. Date of travel: Mar 2006
I was traveling from London to Bangkok with the wife and two very young children. We decided on a one stop trip to break up the journey. BIG mistake!!! Doha is a building site made up of part of the original airport and temp structures. Back in March there were three landings in quick succession and only one Xray machine open for what was easily 700+ people in transit. IT was hot, no aircon!!! Once inside the terminal it looked like any other airport except for it being tiny. My wife found she had to wait 40 mins to use the toilet as there were only four working. The mens was not much better. Now I know that the new terminal is massive in comparison, you won't get going there soon until it been up and running a long while... Never again Tour Operator: Qatar airways
