• SYRIA HOLIDAY REVIEWS

Syria
Situated at the confluence of three continents (Africa, Asia and Europe), Syria is packed with monuments and the marks of the dozens of ancient civilizations that passed through this strategic crossroads. Surprisingly, with its lovely Mediterranean coastline and wealth of historic sites, mass tourism has not yet arrived in Syria. A holiday in Syria takesmore
Syria is amazing! - Nicci Tomlinson. Date of travel: Dec 2006
Loved the country, loved the people and would love to go back! Definitely the friendliest people I have encountered on any of my travels - very proud of their "Arabic hospitality" which they are keen to show at any opportunity (Welcome to Syria, come and drink tea, come to my house, share in our meal, this is the right bus and here is the money for it) - unbelievable and quite humbling as nothing expected in return, even if try and force it on them, and quite a welcome change from the usual money-grabbing false friendship of many other places. Aleppo was my favourite city, full of character and an assault to the senses - first impression was noise, mayhem, too many people, persistent shoe shiners, crowded pavements, traffic congested streets, fervent calls for prayer, different smells and tastes - but an AMAZING city.
