Tanzania Adventure were brilliant! - Joanne Kirwan. Date of travel: Jan 2011
I visited the Serengeti, Tarangire, Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Crater with Arusha based tour operator Tanzania Adventure in January 2011 and loved it! Our entire trip was amazing, from start to finish, we stayed in great accommodation, ate like kings and saw plenty of fantastic wildlife, with the elephant herds at Tarangire being a personal favourite. The tour operator handled our itinerary, personal preferences and transfers perfectly, and our guide Lucas was great at spotting animals and filling us in on what it was and a good bit of background info on them. They did a fantastic job, and I will travel with them again. It took me long enough to find a good Tanzanian tour operator, sifting through endless websites, itineraries and reviews, but now I have found one that I know is good I will keep using and recommending them. They created an amazing itinerary and took me on the holiday of a lifetime!

Tanzania and Kenya tour with Ziara Safaris - Mrs Marg Brown. Date of travel: Nov 2010
In August, Me and my husband went on a 2 week safari around both Tanzania and Kenya with a tour outfit called Ziara Safaris. After flying in to Nairobi, we stayed overnight there, and then proceeded to Aberdare the next day for a game drive, which was a great introduction to Kenya. The next day we travelled to Lake Nakuru, and took part in a boating safari, which was at first a bit nerve wracking, but in the end we were so pleased we had done it, as it was such a different and unique trip! We then visited the Masai Mara for a couple of days, and due to careful planning by our tour operator, we had visited in the peak of the wildebeest migration! It is impossible to put into words how many of these animals there were, but our driver Liza told us that estimated there were around 1.5 million of them. We even got to see lions hunting whilst we were in this park! This was our favourite location of the trip. We then proceeded to the Serengeti, which was much quieter than we imagined, but maybe this was due to the migration only just moving to the Masai Mara? I don’t know. Anyway, it is still an amazing place to visit, much more different than anywhere we had been so far on our trip, and full of great wildlife! A couple of days later, we drove to the Ngorongoro Crater, which just gave us the wow factor! The views from the top of the crater were absolutely stunning, and we could see for miles out over the whole construction. When we drove down into the crater, we also saw some amazing wildlife, including lots of lions! Overall, our trip really was the holiday of a lifetime, and we would like to repeat it again in a few years after saving up some pennies! We booked directly through the Ziara Safaris website and their team were quick to create an itinerary that matched our requirements and specifications. If you are booking through this tour operator, I suggest asking for the driver/guide called Liza (Don’t know if I’ve spelled his name correctly!) as he was an unbelievably good driver, wildlife spotter and friendly guy.

Mt Kilimanjaro - Jamil and Nancy. Date of travel: Oct 2010
Over and above everything the best part of the trip was really the crew. We got to know everyone by name and got along really well. Our guide and assistant guide were fantastic chaps. We really felt lucky to have them as our guides at the point we got altitude sickness. The sickness hit me big time midway between Gilman point and Uhuru while Jamil went all the way to Uhuru and then got hit. From the point we got sick our guides nearly carried us all the way from the top to Kibo hut - nearly 1100 mts descend for 2 hours. I cant begin to imagine how lucky we were to have good guys with us because we heard other people on the trip say that their guides sucked big time. The other crew including the porters, cooks were also really fantastic. The food, although very simple by earthly standards was fantastic on the mountain. With the travel itself being so minimalistic the food that these guys prepared was really awesome. In fact when both of us got altitude sickness, they took requests from us and made special stuff for us. At the end of the trip we felt so good about the entire crew that we took them out to dinner (about 9 of them) at one of the best places in Moshi town.
We want to thank all the crew of Inside Africa Budget Safaris, thank you guys!

Tanzania Adventure - TERRIBLE COMPANY TO WORK WITH - A. Saunders. Date of travel: Aug 2010
My wife and I arranged a two week trip with them in August of 2010. We saved for five years to finally afford the Africa trip of our dreams. If you are planning to go to Tanzania, avoid this company at all costs. First, their tour guide not the best fit for us. He was knowledgeable and his English was good, but he just would not give us any information without being asked. We had to continuously ask him questions just to find out about the animals. By the end of the trip, it was really quiet, because honestly I was fed up with trying to drag information out of him and I was focusing on having a good trip without his insight. In contrast, our guide in Zanzibar was excellent. He shared more with us in a couple of hours than our safari guide did in eight days.We still had a very decent safari trip without his insights, but with a proper guide, we feel the safari portion of the trip could have been phenomenal. Second, and most importantly, one of their representatives STOLE FROM US. We were met in Arusha by a representative of their company who delivered a $3,250 partial refund for my father who broke his leg and could not make the trip. While they made him pay with a bank transfer, they insisted that I carry his cash refund home with me. The money was delivered as 30 $100 bills, 5 $20 bills, and 15 $10 bills. All bills were brand new from the bank. I thumbed through the bills and signed off on the form while their guy piled them up and put them back into the envelope. I took the envelope and kept it in my front zippered pocket for the rest of the trip. The money was never out of my site for the rest of the trip. When we arrived at the Serengeti airstrip, we went to pay for a hotel upgrade and found the envelope now only contained $2,310 instead of $3,250. It contained 20 $100 bills, EIGHT $20 bills, and 15 $10 bills. We lost 10 $100 bills and gained 3 $20 bills. All bills were still crisp, clean, new bank-type bills. I called their representative to sort this out, and I felt like I was put in a very difficult situation where I was forced to accept the situation or be left stranded for the rest of our trip. Overall this company over promised and under delivered. There are literally hundreds of other safari companies operating in Tanzania. I sure you could do better by selecting another company.

Africa Venture Safaris - Noah Jeglinski. Date of travel: Dec 2009
They're very prompt and straight forward with their responses. I had some last minute adjustments with my trip and Africa Venture Safaris was able to work around my conflicts to make sure things work. During the climb, we interacted with several other tour groups; Africa Venture Safaris offered some of the best services that we encountered. Compared to some of the fancy brand name operators , Africa Venture Safaris was able to hold its own. I was unable to see any difference between our campsite (food, tent) and the big names. This was very surprising considering some of those operators charge 2x-3x more than what we paid.

we came back home two days ago and we want to tell you how much wonderful the safari has been: from 7th oct 2009 to 14th oct 2009. 1) The organization has been fantastic 2) The national parks have been wonderful 3) The lodges and the service have been perfect 4) The food has been very very tasteful 5) But above all our driver has been the most special person we have ever met: he was kind, professional, punctual, nice, very polite, he led us into a fantastic country like Tanzania. He helped us to appreciate special sites, special people like Tanzanians, animals, landscapes. Excuse me but my bad English doesn't allow me to express all my enthusiasm in this trip: we have appreciated so much everything and we promise you to recommend your organization www.africahomeadventure.com to all our Italian friends.

As home to an exotic variety of natural wonders, Tanzania stands apart as a unique African destination which offers the finest of recreational possibilities on this continent. I plan to visit fabulous Tanzania again for a trekking excursion to nothing less than Mt. Kilimanjaro, one of the toughest peaks in the world. I was advised to follow Lemosho route while trekking the mountain but I am not sure if it is by far the best router to climb the mountain. Just can't wait to go on the African safari once more and have endless fun exploring wildlife and ecstatic nature views.

Tanzania Adventure Safaris - Karen Wong and Neil McLean. Date of travel: Jul 2008
Our Guide Edward is a very good driver, knowledgeable about the animals and gave us the opportunity to see and photograph all the animals. He is very professional and has a good sense of humor. We thoroughly enjoyed all of the parks each one has very different, but I would recommend a shorter game drive in Ngorongoro crater and long time in Serengeti instead to see the Elephants. The hot air balloon ride in Serengeti in Tanzania was an experience of a lifetime, we would highly recommend balloon safaris and African Home Adventure Safaris. Nickson organized a great itinerary we appreciated his flexibility in accommodation our schedule at a very short notice. We had an incredible time with African Home Adventure Safaris!!! Thank You.

Climbing Kilimanjaro - Harry S. Date of travel: Oct 2007
A great trip, not for the faint hearted. We did a 7 day climb, the Limosho route. We went with Wonderful World tour operators. The three of us went with 20 porters carrying tents, cooking equipment, food, water etc. The altitude is quite challenging, some people had headaches from 4,000m upwards. Reached the summit at 4pm after a 10 hour climb. Very harsh environment, rather beautiful and great to see the glacier.

Honeymoon to Tanzania - Hannelore Millan. Date of travel: Sep 2006
We have just returned from a wonderful honeymoon to Tanzania. We asked Tanzania Adventure to arrange a tour to for us and they set up a gorgeous trip. Our guide was kind and friendly and never tired to assist us with our thousand needs and questions and tracking our favorite animals. We were very lucky to see the 'big 5' and even some lion hunting. We stayed at Tarangire, Ngorongoro and Lake Manyara at Lodges which were all good with friendly attenting staff and good service. Tanzania Adventure run their own tented camp at Serengeti which is just magic. We were pampered by the staff members and enjoyed being out in the African Bush close to absolute wilderness. We did not want to leave to Zanzibar to finish our honeymoon with a great stay at Stonetown and the beach. For Zanzibar Tanzania Adventure have chosen the Zanzibar Coffeehouse and the Sultans Palace both beautiful, stunning and atmospheric hideaways just perfect for romantic holidays. We are very thankful towards Tanzania Adventure for arranging the trip of a lifetime for us. Hannelore Millan

Great Tanganyika!! - Karin Scott. Date of travel: Jul 2006
I recently took a 4 day safari with the Kuja Safaris team in the Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara. I had a fantastic time - feeling the perfect balance between relaxation and exhilaration.
From the moment I landed in Nairobi everything worked like clockwork. From the airport I was whisked away to enjoy breakfast in the city before loading up on supplies and heading to Arusha and the game parks. I camped two nights (highly recommended) and stayed another night in a lodge. All of the meals were taken care of and were excellent. And importantly, we saw 4 of the Big 5!
Everything worked out as perfectly as we had been promised. George was as good a guide as one could want. We all really appreciated the effort the entire team including the cook Elias put in.

Tanzania Adventure - James + Amanda. Date of travel: Jun 2006
We have recently returned from Tanzania where we did a week on Safari and a week in Zanzibar for our Honeymoon as organised by Tanzania Adventure.
The company were very easy to deal with whilst making the arrangments and booking the holiday and evreything went as it was planned.
Our guide on safari was excellent and along with a bit of luck ensured we seen an unbelievable number of animals including all 5 of 'the big 5'. We visited Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti over 7 days and were amazed at the amount of animals we seen and how close they were to the vehicles.
We then went to Zanzibar to the Ocean Paradise hotel for a couple of day's relaxation on the beach, followed by a Spice tour and City Tour of Stone Town and a few nights in the Tembo Hotel in Stonetown.
Everything went as planned and the people we dealt with from Tanzania Adventure were all focussed on ensuring we had a great time, which we did!

Use a reputable tour operator - Eugene Wang. Date of travel: Sep 2005
My wife and went on holiday to Tanzania for our honeymoon in September 2005 but it was almost ruined by our useless tour operator. We climbed Kili, did a safari, and then went to Zanzibar over the course of two weeks. For the most part, the safari was quite nice, except that they did not book us in the luxury camping that we had requested. Instead, they booked us in a "camping" safari, which is really camping in tents -- this is very different from a "luxury camping" safari in both product and price. Our tour operator did manage to book us in a nice lodge (Ngorogoro Farm House), for one evening. The other evenings we stayed for two nights in a basic lodge and one night in a run-down tented camp. The saving grace of the safari was our guide, Peter Moshi. He was friendly and very knoweledgable. He was formerly with Abercrombie and Kent, a very reputable firm. We saw many anmials; however, unfortunately, we were unable to find any cheetahs or leopards. One other guide we talked to was shocked that we didn't see any cheetahs; he said they were all over the place. Before the Kili trip we stayed at the New Arusha Hotel. During our conversation with our guide we expressed concern about climbing Kili in the short time we allowed (4 days up; one day down). He kept telling us that it would be no problem -- "hakuna matata." My wife didn't make it up because she was unable to acclimatise in such a short period. I would suggest you budget 5 days up and 1 day down, for a total of 6 days. Well, we proceeded to climb Kili the next day. Our guide was TERRIBLE. He consistently walked 50 yards ahead of us and was unhelpful when my wife got into trouble, we had to contact the rangers ourselves to help get my wife back down. Tanzania is a wonderful country! Despite the poor service from our tour operator, it was one of my most memorable vacations! If I do it again, I will definitely find a more reputable company to arrange my travels. I hope this is helpful. Tour Operator: Tanzania Adventure

I arranged a holiday to climb Mount Kilimanjaro through Footloose travel and I can honestly say I had the best time of my life ever. The travel arrangements and accomodation were fantastic and the care that was given to me and my companion by the guides was fantastic. I can recommend it to anyone. Don't underestimate the effects of altitude as my companion became very ill and had to turn back and also one thing that was not stressed at all is the tipping that the porters and guides require. They are paid a very low wage to risk their lives, make sure you reward them adequateley. Tour Operator: Footloose travel

Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater are not to be missed, but the safari touts are very aggressive and booking a trip can be exhausting. Make sure you bargain hard and don't just believe the first safari company you go to. Also try to get up to date recommendations from other travellers about safaris before booking one yourself. Despite the expense the national parks are really worth it.
